    I signed a storage unit lease on 12/26 with Shield Storage, only to learn that they were forcing me to purchase an additional product. When I emailed ******* at Shield Storage about the additional product refund, I was rudely denied. So, I emailed back asking for my lease to be cancelled and my money refunded. This is when I got ghosted. I called three separate times and no one answered. I literally had to go to the office to speak to ******* directly. ******* was rude, nasty, disrespectful and no help at all. She told me all she could do was email her bosses requesting a refund. When I asked for the supervisor information, she said she could not give me any information. She told me that I would have to wait until Monday 12/30 when her managers came back from the Christmas holiday to see if my refund would be granted. She also said she would call me on Monday 12/30, but she never did. ******* is a liar, who is playing games with my money and being a gatekeeper. I never moved in to the storage unit nor saw it. ******* at Shield Storage is running a scam and stealing my money. If this continues, I will have to *** ***** Storage and ******* for my money.

    This is in response to a ****** review I had posted about my experience with this establishment. Nobody has given me a call back or has been in the office every time Ive made the trip over there (I am not local) and it seems the owner is active on here. I have had my unit for 9 months to which I have always paid on time and never had any issues until July when I got hit with suspicious charges on my account that ultimately lead me to finding out there was a lock put on my unit, my gate code was deactivated and I received a lien notice due to negligence at this business. The manager that I have spoken too about this matter on and off since the middle of July has yet to provide me answers, she has yet to return my calls regarding this matter and has been completely misleading during this time. This business is doing this to several people and there is no answer or explanation why consistent customers are getting locked out of their unit. At this point in time after being refused contact information for the district manager and was treated very poorly by the people of this company, I am wanting to terminate my contract immediately and get my property from the unit. I hope moving forward this doesnt happen to anyone else. My phone number is ************** if someone can give me a call back to sort this out. I have not had access to my unit that I consistently paid for, I have wasted many trips going to the office and nobody being there. I have left many voicemails and never receiving a call back.     A tenant for over 20 years. ** took new ownership and is now FORCING tenants to pay for insurance, which the company profits by. No opportunity for a tenant to opt out, we are simply FORCED to comply, even though I have an older agreement that was NEVER amended. .. Now, they want me to add them as CO-INSURED on my home owners policy, which flat, point blank IS NOT RIGHT ! .. They have also sent my personal information to the wrong email ( In the past ), lost or misplaced my personal payment information, and, they are charging SALES TAX on a Self Storage Unit. .. I, along with all the other tenants NEED HELP !

    Our company purchased the facility in September and we sent out new lease addendums to all of our tenant base. Our lease states that you must have coverage to protect your items in storage at our facility. The customer has the option to either provide us with their homeowners/renters insurance showing their items in storage are covered, enroll in our protection plan, or move out of the unit in a 30 day time frame. We do not require anyone to add us as co-insured. We operate with a month to month lease. This is the most common practice in the self storage industry as the entity holds no liability for the customers' goods.

    In regards to your autopayment information, no one lost or misplaced it. Due to laws in PCI Compliance, the data was unable to transfer between entities during the purchase which was for the customers protection so that data would stay secure and not have the opportunity to be leaked.

    In regards to the sales tax, that is the law in the ****************. I understand that the previous company may not have been following the law but I will attach the link below stating the ruling.

    In regards to your email address on file, it is the tenants responsibility to update any information with us in writing if anything has changed from what you put on your rental agreement. We do not have the authority to change any personal information without written and signed documentation from the tenant.

    We would be more than happy to work to a solution with this tenant. I, as the Director of Operations have not heard about this complaint until today. Please seek a conversation with our District Manager so that we can work together to resolve any issues you may have after review of this response.
