In July 2024, we had wind damage occur to our roof. Several contractors including a sales *** from Select Adjusters stopped by. The ***resentative from Select Adjusters made a lot of promises. 1) We would not have to pay anything out of pocket to get the roof ***laced including the deductible 2) We did not have to sign a contract at that moment just give them authorization to speak with the claims specialist at ********** 3) If we decided to not go with them for any reason, we could cancel. I asked the sales *** from Select Adjusters several times in front of my mother and another family member we had on the phone were we signing a contract. He stated no. I said this sounds too good to be true. He said all I had to do was a quick signature to allow him to speak directly only with the claims specialist. He said that his company could definitely get us a good settlement in a short period of time. He referenced two people down the street that I do not know. I had no idea a contract was signed until about two months later when I told Select Adjusters we no longer needed to do business with them because they were unwilling to work with our contractor. Then all of a sudden, I get an email stating I have to pay 25% of the settlement on top of their fee if I want to use my contractor. If I used their contractor there is no charge. That ABSOLUTELY makes no sense. It is double dipping. And they never showed me a contract nor went over one when they were here. I had to ask several times where my contract was and a transcript of my account. ********************** is not supposed to contact State Farm, the contractor nor myself regarding my claim. We were very clear we no longer want to work with them. I want a release. We were misled about the contract and the services Select Adjusters provides. So far, they have not settled my claim that would ***lace my roof. It has been 4 months. Just give us the release so that we can move on.

Dear Ms. ************* value your feedback and are committed to addressing your experience with Select Adjusters.
Contract Misunderstanding: We recognize there may have been a misunderstanding regarding the contract. Our representatives strive to clarify our services and contractual obligations, though we understand expectations were not fully met in this case.
Out-of-Pocket Expenses: You mentioned being told there would be no out-of-pocket expenses, including the deductible, and that you could cancel at any time. We aim to clarify the claims process and related costs, though we acknowledge it can be complex and are working to improve our communication.
Fees: The 25% fee for using a contractor outside our network is to cover our service costs. We understand this may have caused confusion, especially since network contractors may not incur additional fees. We appreciate your feedback to enhance our transparency.
Claim Settlement Delays: We understand delays can be frustrating and are diligently working to expedite the process, though it is sometimes impacted by insurer protocols. Please know we are actively monitoring your case for timely resolution.

This is a continuation of complaint ID #********. I have sent two emails to BBB to get this complaint re-opened but no one has responded. I decided to open a new complaint to see if this issue can get resolved. Select Adjusters responded to stating the following on November 4, 2024: Offer: We are prepared to cancel our representation at no charge, allowing you to work directly with a contractor without further obligation to Select Adjusters. Please confirm if you would like us to proceed with this cancellation. Next Steps: Reply to confirm cancellation and provide your preferred contact method so we can offer further assistance. I emailed their office twice to let them know I would like the release sent as a PDF file to my email address and a copy sent to State Farm. I didn't get a response until November 7, 2024 after stating I would re-open the complaint. Wayland Wood from Select Adjusters contacted me via phone to discuss options. I explained to him that a resolution had been reached. Select Adjusters agreed to do a release at no cost. He stated he would get on it that day and I should have it by Friday close of business. There has been no further contact from the company. I sent a text message to Wayland Wood this morning stating that the complaint would be re-opened and would remain open until the release was received.

    Dear Ms. *******
Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We value your feedback and are committed to addressing your experience with Select Adjusters.
    Addressing Your Concerns:
Contract Misunderstanding: We recognize that there appears to be a misunderstanding regarding the contract and the process involved. Our representatives are trained to explain the services we offer and to clarify any contractual obligations. While our goal is to ensure clients are fully informed, we understand that the information provided may not have met your expectations.
Promises Made: You noted that our representative indicated you would not incur any out-of-pocket expenses, including the deductible, and that you could cancel at any time. It’s important to clarify that while we strive to provide comprehensive support, the details of claims processes and related costs can sometimes be complex. We appreciate your concerns and will continue to work on improving our communication to ensure clarity in all discussions.
Commission and Fees: Regarding the 25% fee for using a contractor outside our network, this fee structure is in place to cover the costs of our services. We understand how this may have created confusion, particularly when contrasted with the potential for using our network contractors at no additional cost. Our intention is to be transparent about all fees involved, and we appreciate your feedback, which will help us enhance our communication practices.
Delay in Claim Settlement: We understand the frustration that comes with delays in claim settlements. While we are working diligently to expedite this process, please know that the timeline for settlements can be influenced by various factors, including insurer protocols. Resolution Offer:
To help you move forward, we are prepared to cancel our representation without charge, as your satisfaction is important to us. This cancellation will allow you to work directly with your chosen contractor without any further obligation to Select Adjusters. On July14, 2024 I had a storm take down my carport awning. On July 15, 2024, a man from Select Adjusters came to my home and offered to check my roof at no charge so I agreed. He had a man from a roofing company go up on the roof. After coming down I was told it had hail damage and must be replaced. (four days later my roofer looked at it and said there was minor spot where awning came off that he would do at no charge) He told me he was a Public Adjuster, led me to believe that the insurance would be calling him (like he handled all their claims). I asked him for a card he had none, only the logo on his shirt. He indicated we could speed things up if I signed a form for him to contact the ************* He showed me a one-page form on a tablet. I asked him to email it to me so I could look it over first he said he needed me to sign now and there was no obligation for them to do the work I could use anyone. I looked the page over, did not see any Red Flags. I gave him my email address to send it (I thought right then). He left some minutes later I called a number he gave me, let him know I had not received it, he said: it would take a few days to process. Later I learned I had three days to cancel, it has been 25 days so far copy of what I signed. I got a voice mail from **** said she will handle roof claim. I called her told her roof was not going to be done, told me would let supervisor know. I emailed their headquarters and basically dismissed and it has been nothing since. A rep. for me called ****, told him only I could talk to them. They won't answer emails, **** has no authority evidently. left messages with supervisor, no returns. I think Select Adjusters is a two- horse pony ride for their **************** All I want is a release so I can get my awning replaced and they are holding that up. I don't want to destroy their business, but if this is the normal way they conduct business they should be investigated at a minimum. I hope they get to see more clearly.

Approximately two weeks ago a canvasser arrived at my door step claiming to work for a roofing **mpany. He stated my roof was shot due to wind damage and can help get it **vered from ins **. he said by signing some forms I will receive a new roof. Unfortunately, after dinner I had a few drinks and I think he took full advantage of that. No explanation of fees or how it works. I never received a **py or I would have called next day to cancel. About a week later I got a email about claim they filed I did not realize this was a adjuster **. Apparently I can't cancel now its too late. I attempted several times to call no answer. I finally got ahold of ****** and she described how it works I said no way I got screwed. I still have no **py of forms I signed as promised. I don't need a adjuster just a roofer. I believe I was **nned and no one to answer my questions there for over a week so I **uld not get out of their **ntract. This in my opinion is a very shady way to do business. Now my claim has their name on it also and cant get roof fixed until they cash the check? If I had a **py of what I signed and did not respond that would be a dif story. I believe I got scammed and taken advantage of for sure. No way should a **mpany do this to someone in need and never describe services as I thought it was free and they would fix the roof just help me file a claim so they **uld have the work as a roofing ** is how they described it. As of today, weeks later I still have no idea what I signed under influence. Other words still no **pies and a manager was promised to call me and nothing no surprise. I am very disappointed with this **mpany who really is stealing money in my opinion from senior homeowners. I want this **ntract I have never seen to be null and done. I will work with ins ** to receive another check. Again, I was never informed of how this works and I probably never will as I said never seen any **ntract. I think they just take advantage of seniors who don't know.

We are not able to do what the client is requesting because the majority of our services have already been performed and costs have been incurred. We have spoken to *** multiple times since he signed our contract and he allowed us to meet with his insurance adjuster on the roof to evaluate damages. Based on our meeting we expect the roof to be fully awarded and can then discuss moving forward with a contractor to complete the project, but until then we request patience to see what will be awarded on the claim

Last summer I had damage to my roof. Select Adjusters came and put on a tarp and started paperwork with my insurance company. The person who did the work did not file the claim properly with his own office, Select Adjusters, and the whole thing dragged on and on for MONTHS. My HOA finally got on my case because it was such an eyesore and nothing happened for repairs. A supervisor of the person who put on the tarp finally got involved. They charged me double my deductible for some reason until I objected and they had to do a refund. Again, this information was given to them at the outset so there was no reason for this inconvenience. My insurance had sent out a letter and a check in August that apparently went no where. Select Adjusters claimed it was sent to ME but I never received a letter or a check. The person who installed the tarp kept telling me that my insurance was not cooperating and that they had not been given all of the policy information, etc. My insurance sent an electronic version of everything to someone at Select Adjusters who apparently does not even work there anymore. SOMEONE DROPPED THE BALL ON ALL OF THIS!!!! Now, 5 months later....the work is finally going to be done. In the meantime, the tarp had shredded in another storm (surprise, surprise!) and another check has had to be reissued, etc. NOW I am being told that the paint will not match my existing trim. Oh, yippee! Another unsightly mess! I am going to get satisfaction from these people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS COMPLETE INCOMPETENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are worried about matching roofing materials on a flat roof that won't show from the ground but are going to mismatch the paint on the trim that does show. Also, it is going to be down in the 30s and the freaking paint probably won't even stick anyway because it should have been done last summer. I am going to keep reporting them until this is resolved correctly to my taste.

Select Adjusters spoke to the contractor performing the work and they were aware of *****s concern about matching colors and are working on taking a paint sample to make things match nicely. Work should be performed shortly after matching paint samples

As usual, the story keeps changing. The person who called me yesterday to inform me that they are coming tomorrow (Thursday) and will finish on Friday is the one who said the choices were just white, black or brown. He called back today and denied saying they would be here tomorrow. He had me down for next Tuesday and Wednesday but said they were rearranging their schedule and they might be here tomorrow but no time frame. As for the color, I referred him to the insurance representative that I have been in contact with over the matter. Now they are saying they are going to rip off the wood and then replace it and paint it white. It just keeps changing over and over from how it all started. That is why I have repeatedly told them to email me rather than call so that I have written proof of what I'm being told because it constantly changes!!!!!

The contractor is currently working with the client. Construction can have changes due to weather and delays but they are working to rectify the situation as quickly as possible. Funds for this job were also only received today so the contractor was moving forward before being paid to help out

I am conitinuing to investigate this situation. The insurance company sent a check THREE times to pay for this. There have been additional issues as well and it turns out that the company who did the repairs is part of Select Adjusters so I am going to add to that report. This is not over by a long shot. Also, the person on their end stopped responding to my emails and texts. I am not finished with turning them in to various agencies and nothing they say will resolve this until I am satisfied with the outcome. At this time, I am not.

Have been dealing with this since 08/31/2023. I sent them a check sent to me and Select Adjuster in the amount ******** on top of the money received from the insurance company in the amount ********* for replacement cost of ******* on ******* and porch . After several calls, Finally got a hold of someone. Then again several more calls to have material being delivered on 10/31/2023 but was delivered on the first of Nov and was to be finished by the second. And now here it the 6th of Nov. and no call returned about when they plan on getting the job started and done. I would never recommend them to anyone.
