On 08/23/2024 *** ***** came to our house to look at the leaking water heater and verbally we agree on the cost of $3495.00 dollars. The solar water heater is around $2500.00 dollars, and remaining amount is for labor all material, pipes, everything included. The two installers *** and **** come to replace water heater on Monday the 26th, and they did but then when it was time to pay it was additional $30.00 dollars for sensor what I agree due that was never mentioned in our verbal agreement. They removed mixing valve saying they are not required and told me to watch closely kids not to get burned in next few days. If I need mixing valves in future, it will be additional cost between $400.00 to $500.00 dollars what my understanding is included in price of installation. Well, they left and what I know except to ****** about mixing valves and I found they are required on water heater. I call *** asking to come back due to mixing valves are required in ******* and based on our agreement to put them back, but they insisted mixing valves are additional cost and nothing they can do about it except paying them the additional amount of money what I did not agree on. Then other installer **** called, and he told me they will be back to install mixing valves for free only if I buy valves what I did not agree on. One more thing I am working from home, so I did not have time to watch and pay attention what is going on, I take two breaks to check on them if they need something to drink due to heat and to pay them, to find out that *** put on job invoice bypassed mixing valves as per customer what he mentions to me in our phone conversation, my mistake I needed to go back to work when I sign to pay the bill. I never ask for mixing valves to be bypassed. Living me with two small kids with possibility to get burned. Due to bad experience. I am not planning to call them ever again.

I went out to this customer's house on 8-23 when she reported to me that their solar tank was leaking badly. The call came in at 7:32AM and I got out there by 9:00AM. I told the husband that the tank needed to be replaced but that I could not get to it until Monday morning in that the tank was on a pedistal and would need two men to lift it off. At first they said Tuesday was better but then changed their minds to Monday in that their children needed hot water for showers. I showed the husband a way to use the water heater for showers over the weekend by turning of the feed valve to it and turning it on when they needed showers. This way their kids had hot water for their showers. We came out Monday as promised and replaced the tank. After we finished we found that their mixing valve was clogged and the solar sensors were not working. We replaced the sensors (including on the roof) and only charged our cost. We also included the replacement of the glycol fluid at no charge which usually cost about $100 during the time of a tank replacement. We did that because they seemed like nice people with kids and we could give them a break. As for the mixing valve, it was clogged an not letting the hot water from the tank through to the sinks and showers. We removed it after working on it to clear for over an hour. The wife could confirm that the water was not coming through as she was running the bathtub faucet on and off over the hour. After we removed it there was a full flow. We told her that this way she could get hot water until she and her husband decided on whether they wanted to replace the mixing valve. Some people don't bother and are just aware that the water can get hot. We set the high limit at the solar control to 140 degrees which is a common setting.Later that day they called us irate over the removing of the mixing valve and wated us to replace it at no charge. They said that should be included in our price. We told them that the price we quoted was for the tank replacement but they felt that it should include anything else that was wrong. We tried to compromise saying that we would replace the valve at no labor cost if they would pay for the valve ($188). They refused and hung up on us.We treated these people really well in getting out there ASAP and throwing in the glycol recharge, and only charging our cost on the sensors (working on the roof mid day for a half hour) and getting them hot water that day. We offered the compromise of putting in the valve at no labor cost and no mark up on the valve itself but rhey refused. As a family business for over 40 years we do treat our customers as we would expect to be treated. But in this case these customers don't have the same attitude. The offer to replace the mixing valve at no labor cost remains if they want it.
