This business was in the process of selling to Public Storage. They called me one day after my due date asking for payment that was sent on 8/19/21 and the payment was due on 9/21/2022. I informed them the check was probably sitting in their mail box and to notify me if they did not receive it. I did not receive a call. On 8/26/2022, Public Storage called and informed me they had purchased the business from Signal Butte Storage and they did not receive payment for the rent due on 8/21/2022. They had purchased the business and they did not have a payment made out to Signal Butte and they would not cash a check to that business since they had already taken position of the property. So I had to pay another payment to Public and was informed I should cancel the check. NO, I should not have to pay nearly $40 to cancel a check to a business that had no business cashing since they had already turned the business over to Public Storage. Today, 9/17/2022, ********** shows the check as being cashed by Signal Butte Storage. They no longer own this business and should not be cashing a check for a rental period when they did not own this business. There was a sense of urgency in the tone of the caller as though this needed to be paid NOW. I have now paid double the amount for the same rental period, for the same unit. Phone records shows Signal Butte Storage calling on 8/22/2022, at 9:09 am inquiring about payment. On 8/26/22, at 11:23 am, Public Storage requesting payment, for the unit previously owned by SBS. This type of major business purchase does not take place in four days and Signal Butte willfully cashed a check they had no business cashing for a business they no longer owned. They waited 27 days before cashing the check and that is very obvious they no longer owned that business and should have never cashed that check since they probably did not own the business during the time period of 8/21/2022 - 9/20/2022, which is the rental period of this payment.
