Ortho Arizona Surgery Center Gilbert has refused to refund overpayment. Prior to surgery, I was asked to provide estimated payment. Estimated payment was provided in August for services rendered. Ortho Arizona Surgery Center Gilbert then submitted claims to my insurance company. ***************** paid claims in September. My payment plus insurance company payment exceeded cost of services provided. Ortho Arizona Surgery Center has REFUSED to refund the balance/overpayment/excess monies. Dozens of phone calls and conversations over months go no where. Last conversation stated the refund was mailed December 15 and I have to wait 10 business days. As of January 6, reimbursement has not be provided. I have not been able to get a hold of anyone capable of helping me at Ortho Arizona. There are numerous complaints related to the same issue in Ortho Arizona FAILING to return excess money. It is shameful and unethical a business is able to operate this way with no repercussion.

I had a procedure at this facility on May 23, 2022. When I arrived for my surgery the receptionist told me I owed approximately $1000. I explained to this person that I had been in the hospital emergency room and had emergency surgery through that hospital a couple of weeks earlier so I was not going to owe that much because I was close to meeting my out of pocket ***imum. However they refused to go forward unless I paid $557 at that time and sign a payment arrangement for the remaining balance. I asked several times if this would be voided if in fact I did not owe the money and was assured that if insurance showed I did not owe that they payments would not be taken out. This was my first mistake, trusting that this center would do what is right because they did they same thing to me about three years prior and it took them over a year to refund me money. This time I have a lot of medical bills and cannot afford for them to have money that is not rightfully owed so I checked on my claims through my insurance and found that the claim was processed on June 23, 2022 and they were paid $1690.12 and my EOB states I owe a total out of pocket of $217.88. Since I already paid $557 I should be done but no this company continues to take two more payments of $185.50 out of my bank account even though I have called multiple times and was told that they would put a hold on the payment arrangement while they appealed the insurance decision. They didn't put a hold and they continue to refuse to refund me the overpayment of $710.12 even though as a provider they can see that our family has made the out of pocket *** for the year and even if ***** decides to pay them more I will not owe them anymore. I have never received a call back from anyone and have only spoken to the receptionist when I call who always says she doesn't know anything more because she doesn't deal with the billing. My insurance company does not understand why they will not refund me either. Unethical.
