      Once Sunshine Restoration found out that I would not be using their services (due to a wildly overpriced quote which would be performed by a third-party) they quickly added "Administration/estimator fee's" to an invoice amounting to $661.56 ($165.39 per hour x 4 hours). When I said I was not going to pay for someone to come out and provide a non-competitive quote for the project they quickly turned it over to collections and in negatively impacted my credit score.

      Hi ****, Sorry about your experience! We have carefully reviewed the file and do believe the additional charges were not warranted in this situation. However the charges for the asbestos testing are non-negotiable. We sent out the invoice on 12-12-2023 and had no response after 4 months so we sent everything to collections after repeated correspondence. 

      It was really unfortunate that your home contained asbestos, we would have preferred it did not. As you know you accepted our original estimate prior to asbestos testing being completed. When the materials came back positive for asbestos it complicated the job. Had there been no asbestos we would have completed the job and you would have been a happy customer. 

      Some companies unaware of the risk and liability associated with asbestos will move forward with removal without proper certifications, PPE, contaminants and procedures. That is not a risk we are willing to take. The third party testing company we used on your job is an industry leader and called in as an expert witness on many liability cases. If there was ever a disagreement on mold and asbestos liability we want them on our side. From our date stamped notes it looks like you did not believe there was asbestos, so hopefully you got a second opinion to verify our findings.

      We hired Sunshine Restoration for air duct cleaning, mold remediation, and reconstruction. The air duct cleaning and mold remediation occurred without incident and we promptly paid for these services. We put a deposit for the reconstruction work down and the work was not performed in a satisfactory way and we do not believe any further payment is warranted. I have attached pictures from the reconstruction work. There are pictures of the first time the work was completed followed by the images of when they tried to fix it. The work was done extremely poorly and our refrigerator was broken in the process. We reached out multiple times asking for upper management to call us back and they insisted we would be getting a call and we never did. We were also assured that an appliance repair technician would be sent, but instead a general contractor looked at the fridge and guessed at what could be wrong. We had to hire and pay our own appliance repair technician since we received no response from Sunshine. They confirmed that the original inspection was done incorrectly as the fridge had needed to be plugged in for 24 hours to be diagnosed and the condenser fan needed replaced, not the capacitor which the general contractor from Sunshine was going to order to try to fix the fridge. The work was done poorly, took many attempts to correct and cost ** money in fridge repairs, lost groceries, and unnecessary takeout as we were without a fridge for two weeks. The company has refused to call us and resolve the issue and we are seeking in writing that we owe no more money for the reconstruction and our business with Sunshine Restoration is concluded and paid in full.
