I was at the Theodore on 6/1/23 around 3:30p when a large explosion and fire occurred across the street from the business. The explosion occurred just north of 2nd st and ********* and was responded to by emergency services. The event happened roughly 100m NE of The Theodore. At the time of the explosion, my girlfriend ran over to the location of the emergency to see if she could assist/call 911. I was sitting on The Theodore's outdoor patio, which faces a private parking lot that is immediately between the business and the location of the emergency. My friend and I were concerned when my girlfriend didn't immediately return. The fire department responded in less than five minutes, and my girlfriend still hadn't returned. So, we rushed into the private parking lot with our alcoholic beverages in hand only thinking about the safety of my girlfriend. As we were roughly 20ft away from the bar, the manager, *********************, stormed out of the back door and approached us from behind. Without communicating, ***** aggressively grabbed both of our drinks out of our hands and dumped the contents into the parking lot. He loudly exclaimed "***********************, YOU'RE CUTT OFF." My friend and I were very confused as we were just assaulted by some random person behind a bar. When asked why we were cut off he shared that we took alcohol off premises and we were no longer welcome. That's completely fine as a policy, but there's no need to assault two people to enforce a policy, especially considering the circumstances. As my girlfriend walked back, we told her we had been removed from the establishment and that she should go pay her tab so we could move on. ********************* was on the patio when we approached (not entering their property) and began speaking loudly to patrons about how stupid we were for taking alocohol into the parking lot adjacent to their building. He then yelled out "HAVE A NICE DAY!" sarcastically, continuing to antogonize my friend and myself. We left without issue, but are unwilling to simply move on from this blatant disregard of our rights.
