The incident happened at half price books, this happened June the first. I am not sure of the time cause I was so shocked . I think it was between 3 ******* 5 *******. Anyway I bought in 2 full bags of DVDs and CDs. I waited patiently for him to process all my belongs. He finally calls me on the intercom(sorry I don't know the employees name). He gave me 6 dollars for EVERYTHING. I was under the impression he would give my back the non valuable items. I was in the process of having a panic attack so I didn't dispute anything for about 10 mins when I finally calmed down. So I went back into the store, hoping he can give me all my stuff back and I will take my business elsewhere. Well because I signed a paper when I was under distress. I asked him where are the ***** CDs that were not valuable to you, he said I throw them away. I was appalled. Donate to a library, do some good in this world. I walked out the store at that point. I saw a security guard outside the building , I asked her if I can dumpster dive to get all my stuff. So cause of you horrible service I had to jump in a garbage can. It's absolutely ridiculous and I will not stand for it. I am not sure what you guys can help me with. I have called cooperate and left a very delightful message, don't worry I was respectful and used no profanity. I also left a 1 star review on ******. I just don't understand, if I came in with items that are no value to you, how can you throw it away . It's my property. It's just absolutely disgusting. When I signed the paper, no one explained it to me, I thought they were doing that for the item(s) they did find valuable . I didn't they took everything. They threw it away anyway, just give it back to the customer. That's the right thing to do. There were 100's of DVDs and books in that garbage can. That is unacceptable. I don't know what this world has come to. Anyway, please try and help, it's not the money I am worried about , it's the fact they threw away my belongings.

    Business Response

We are sorry to hear that *********** remains unhappy with her experience selling to us but are confident that proper policies and procedures were followed in this instance.
*********** brought in CDs and DVDs to sell to us on 6-1. Our employee explained that she would receive a cash offer for everything she brought in based on how it would sell. During the evaluation, we discovered that most of the items had scratches that would have likely made them unplayable.
Upon completing the evaluation, we presented the offer to *********** and explained that the condition of the items as well as their desirability were the reasons she received an offer of $6.52 for everything. Ms.Du Bois had the opportunity to ask any questions and agreed to the offer made. She signed our buying agreement receipt, redeemed her receipt for cash, and left the store with her cash and without asking for any items back.
We process what we buy promptly to make room for other customers selling to us, including donating, recycling, and throwing out items we are unable to sell. As we are unable to recycle CDs and DVDs and do not have a donation partner interested in scratched media, ***********s items that were not in sellable condition were placed in our trash receptacle to await pick up.Thankfully, this only occurs to a small percentage of items sold to us and only those items which are truly not in sellable condition.
*********** came back to the store an hour later asking to receive her items back. Our manager on duty explained her offer and that her merchandise was processed upon *********** accepting the offer. We are sorry to hear that *********** did not fully understand the process but we are confident the merchandise was evaluated fairly, and *********** was given an explanation of the offer and the opportunity to ask any questions or reclaim her merchandise. She chose to accept the offer, signing our buy offer receipt, redeeming it for cash, and leaving the store with her money.
