I purchased trip insurance with Protecht Inc. for my Georgia Renaissance Festival tickets dated for 5/17. My companion's mother was admitted to the hospital on 5/14. She needed to stay with her mother in the hospital, so we agreed not to go to our event. I filed with Protecht Inc on 5/15.Protecht Inc requested proof that my companion's mother had been hospitalized and proof of her diagnosis. This seems excessive and invasive to my companion's mother's privacy. Especially considering her mother was not even attending the event! Their terms for receiving the refund were not clear and are clearly meant to confuse people.Business Response

I purchased cancellation insurance for the Toronto Marathon. I submitted my supporting documentation confirming the legitimate reason I needed to drop out of the race. I was approved by PROTECHT and received emails to claim my funds. That was several weeks ago and I have experienced nothing but problems with the links. I keep getting a message stating that the could not access my account despite me providing the correct information. I needed to create an account to resolve the issue and that link did not work either. I believe I've been scammed.Business Response

I planned a vacation for myself and husband to ********** S.C.. I work my husband is retired we are both seniors. I plan a vacation and for us to travel by train to *************************, but I had planned the vacation for right after my obligations for work paying for everything before the trip, train, hotel arrange arrangements, reserving tours and a jazz club and some other activities that had to be reserved. everything was set the closer we got to our vacation time my husband started feeling ill so we ended up taking him to the hospital. Hewas having a ************** episode. He went into emergency and they ended up keeping him at the hospital, all of this was during the time we were leading up and preparing for our vacation so I had to cancel our vacation, all the activity reservations, and our train tickets. I have sent out so many letters or I should say emails because these people do not answer phones. They have recordings since our vacation my husband was hospitalized in the hospital, a rehab rehabilitation stay for physical therapy and ******************** after leaving the hospital. Once coming home from the rehab rehabilitation facility, he ended up going back to the hospital because he was in pain finally he came home for five days and ended up back into the hospital for a follow up appointment that ended up being a bone infection so you might as well say we spent August September and October in medical facilities in and out during that time I have emailed Protecht Inc. Where they gave my Case to Fan Shield. Received a funds from ******, the ventures where I made reservations. But I have NOT received a refund from the hotel reservationsBusiness Response

05/2025- I ordered one ticket to ***************** and ****************** in *********** **. But in June I started a new job that I couldn't take off on the date I asked to be at the park. I supplied Protecht with the email confirmation and order number of my ticket as requested. However, they wouldn't give me the refund due to them wanting a travel itinerary or my work calendar, or even a letterhead on company letterhead to say that I couldn't attend. My job is necessary but not that formal. So they refused my refund. I think this was unfair because it violates my company's privacy policy. Im not even supposed to post anything about my job on social media so why should I have to tell them just to get refunded?Business Response

I Purchased tickets to ***********, I also purchased the protection plan in case of bad weather. Me and my son drove 4hours to *********** and it was Pouring the rain and very windy and very cold. half the rides do not operate in this weather and plus who wants to walk around in the freezing cold rain or ride the rides in that weather. So we could not go to ***********. I had to make other plans while there as we already had a hotel there. when i purchased the protection plan it did not go into description on what type of weather it just said bad weather. However now they are saying I cannot get my money refunded because we were still able to drive to *********** so the bad weather did not stop us from getting there. This company is a SCAM and is just taking peoples money and like me I am a single mother with very little I just wanted to take my son to do something fun and could not even do that. This place should say it has to be weather you cannot drive in. all I want is my refund since I was not able to attend.Business Response

when checking out and the offer is made to purchase protection it does not say any of that... it just says Bad weather, work, car accident ect.... it does not say anything else that would lead me to believe it had to be really really bad that I could not make it there!! or else i would not have purchased it. A ************************ emergency was issued for the day of event I planned to attend. In anticipation of the weather event, the host moved the event to a day earlier. They moved the event up to 2PM on a Friday instead of 5PM on a Saturday. I work 9-5pm on Fridays, so obviously my family and I could not attend the event. At this point I was thinking, "I'm glad I bought that FanShield (by Protecht Inc) policy for this exact situation." After submitting a claim, they emailed back with scripted denial responses to every email I sent. They didn't even have the correct event date on their first response. I was a fool for thinking that Protecht would actually honor the terms. Their coverage is a scam. They don't even try to help you.Business Response

Purchased tickets to attend frontier city on the 26th of April. We travelled to *** in order to visit the park. Upon arrival we where told that the park will be closed due to severe weather pushing through the area. At the time it was no big deal since I had purchased insurance for such a scenario. Only to be told that my refund claim was denied. They claim the park was closed and not due to weather. Several schools where scheduled to attend an event in that area and where to go to the park afterwards. Purchased 4 tickets to a *** game (*********) through the *** website on 01/08/2025 for a game to be played on 04/26/2025, also purchased ticket purchase insurance (FanShield) in case one or all of us would not be able to attend the event. The FanShield order # is f92424b6-2b18-4a49-b493-6edc9104854e. Well it turns out my wife, cannot attend the game because she is currently undergoing skin cancer treatment that does not allow her to be out in the sun for the next ***** days. Documentation of her medical situation and a copy of the email from FanShield confirming purchase of the ticket insurance was submitted to them and a refund for the price of 1 ticket was requested as my daughter and 2 of her friends will be using the 3 tickets remaining. After numerous back and forth emails with copies of all documentation requested by FanShield, they continue to ask for more documentation. On March 16, 2025 I purchased ticket cancellation protection insurance from Fanshield (Protecht) for two out of the four *** ****** tickets we were buying online. The two people that would be utilizing two of the tickets were flying in from out of town, hence, we thought the cancellation insurance so readily offered to us upon final checkout of our ****** tickets was a wise thing to do, and, we trusted reliable since it was connected to the *** ticketing process. Within a matter of days we found out that the out of town couple could not attend the game because one of them was not able to find another professor to teach his class the day of the game. We provided a screenshot of the University's online class schedule stating the day, my friend's name and his teaching institution. The claim was denied by Fanshield (Protecht) saying the proof we provided wasn't good enough. They asked for a letter from my friend's institution on the University letterhead verifying the professor would be teaching that day. Really?!!!! Insulting and unrealistic. I believe Fanshield (Protecht) conducts fraudulent business practices with unreasonable demands. I should have researched them before purchasing the "protection plan"....they make it nearly impossible to satisfy their ridiculous requirements. The amount we paid wasn't much (*****) but the dishonesty needs to be brought to the attention of not only *** who is endorsing their "services", but to the public who thinks this is a legitimate business. I purchased ****** tickets for myself and my two daughters, who were scheduled to fly in from **************** for spring break. According to a court order, their mother was supposed to bring them every spring break. However, due to financial difficulties, she is unable to fulfill this obligation, which constitutes a violation of the court order. Fortunately, I had the foresight to buy insurance to cover unforeseen circumstances. When I accessed the insurance website, I was presented with several options for requesting a refund. I selected "Travel Delay," as it was the most relevant option to my situation. Today, I received a response from FanShield stating, "The coverage for this peril (Travel Carrier Delay) would apply as follows, per the policy: 'You or a companion not arriving at the venue due to a delay by the travel carrier used for transportation.'" This response is unacceptable! Regardless of my specific circumstances, I purchased insurance and am entitled to a refund. I reside in **********, and if my refund is not processed, I will pursue legal action for $10,000 for mental and emotional distress due to what I believe to be misleading advertising of fraudulent insurance.Business Response
