      A man named ******* came to our door on 6/2/25 around 4:45pm. He was a very fast talker and wanted my husband to give him a check only for 1000, and it could go towards magazines or mostly towards helping those in need. He kept telling my husband that these sales would help people in women's shelters, group homes, adoption agencies, etc. My husband is very kind hearted and agreed to give him $150. The man kept persisting asking for $500, then $240, then $200. When my husband asked what magazines he could order the man said most don't order magazines as the company, Optimum Reading Services (OPS) would pick them out based on who was getting them. He kept saying it was our chance to help give others another chance at life. I was not happy about this and kept asking what he was selling and how much and he could never give me a straight answer. Turns out he did not have permission in the city to sell door to door, which I found out later. When I looked online at the bank check, it had a name written in the For field that my husband did not write. The name was ******* ***** and the sales man was *******. I am disappointed that my husband gave the man this much money and that this business is not legit. We do not have extra money to spend on causes that are not real. Is there any help you could provide?

      A man came to our house last spring selling magazines. I have bought subscriptions before from them with no issue, so I didnt think anything of it. I also paid via ****** goods and services to protect myself. We went out of the country a couple months later (receipt said it could take up to six months for deliveries to start). We were out of the country for 6 months and I just got back and still no magazines. I cannot get a reply to the email that is listed on the ****** payment and their website for that business is no longer active. I also cannot request a refund from ****** now because it is past the 180 days. I should have known better, but I gave the man the benefit of the doubt and could tell he had a hard life.

      On Oct 24, 2024, a young man was soliciting for magazine sales in our neighborhood in **********, ** (**************). The subscription was pricey but I was willing to help someone earn money who had the courage to go knock on doors and give his pitch. I've now discovered that this is a scam - New Mexico Magazine has not seen anything about my subscription (my selection), and I would like my money back. On principle.

      Regarding optimum reading services LLC I gave them two checks for $100. Each one was to receive magazine - boys life. The other was a donation. Boys life magazines were never delivered. The order was not filled. I have tried several times and they do not Have live agents or return calls And I see several complaints to the BBB

      Yesterday a salesman who was selling optimum products came to my door. They have been doing this relentlessly. I believe it's harassment. If they continue I will let the dog scare them next time. If they do not stop with the harassment I will submit a formal complaint with optimum. Their services are horrible and they've monopolized rhe system. Thankfully people are waking up to their idiocracy. Signed A VERY temporary customer

      On May 8th of 2024 two young men came to my door and offered to sell me a magazine subscription. I purchased 36 issues of ***************************** for $190 using a check. No magazines arrived. I contacted the magazine and they said I wasn't on file as a subscriber. The Optimum Readers Service does not have a phone number and I'm reluctant to fill out a Contact Us form as this is giving them more personal information. The check was deposited on May 17th at a *********************************.

      This is a letter of rebuttal for my complaint against Optimum Readers Service (Complaint number ********), which I am submitting because they have not issued the promised refund. The refund was initially promised on November 1st,, and then I wrote the following e-mail and still have not received a refund, nor any communication:

      Mr. ***** ******:

      I'm writing in regards to a refund magazine subscription that Optimum Reader's Service was not able to fill. I purchased a 36-month subscription to Contemporary Collage, which never arrived. I thought it was a scam so I hesitated to fill out the contact form and instead had the Better Business Bureau contact you on my behalf. They did (complaint number ********), and on November 1st I agreed to the refund that you offered. I haven't received the refund. Will you please send me the $190 refund.

      Salesperson represented that the purchase was for a charity and that the cost was tax deductible. Although I am not sure where the magazines will ultimately go, it is clear after review that the payment is not in any way deductible.I have exercised 3 day right to reject, not sure if they will respect that request.

      On 8/ a man from Optimum Reading pressured me to buy magazines totaling ****** He said it was to turn his life around and care for his family. He was working with another person he said. After a long discussion I ended up giving him $****** check. I tried to cancel several times and did not get any call back. It is always leave a message. The phone number on the receipt is **************. I left several massages asking to cancel and no calls back. My check got cashed however. I was supposed to get 3 magazines for 24 months **** word search, Taste of Home and another one. I am so upset that I fell for this fraud! Can anything be done?

      In June I was issued a card due to my card coming to its expiration date of 07/24 they told me my card would be here and I never received it I called the first week of August 2024 informing them that I have not received my card. They reissued another card said it would be here August 12. When August 12th came I still have not received the card so I called again they insured me it would come this time by sept 4th I called today they said call by end of day today but my mail at my home already came for today so its not coming again all they said they could do is reissue it again and it would take 7-10 business days! This is unacceptable and unprofessional I get direct deposit Im unable to do things I need to do and they have no response or resolution they just keep saying they will resend it or I can give them another address! Its nothing wrong with my address its something wrong with THEIR SYSTEM! Because even when I make purchases I have to use my old zip code of ***** instead of my current ***** which has been changed for over a year now! This seems fraudulent and suspect that a card has yet to come not even the ones they claimed to have sent previously have came. So mysteriously its never coming
