On June 15, 2022, I had an outpatient surgery performed by an ENT at St.Josephs outpatient surgery center. Prior to the surgery, my doctor, as well as the surgery center contacted my insurance so I would know my out of pocket cost for the doctor and the surgery center after insurance was billed. My doctor did inform me Id receive an additional bill from the anesthesiologist after the surgery (which I did). The quoted amount out of pocket that was due on the day of the surgery. Prior to the surgery, I paid out of pocket to my doctor $817.71. The day of the surgery, I was to pay St. Josephs $959.46. On the day of the surgery, when I went to pay, they attempted to collect over $1800 which I told them was incorrect. I showed them the email stating what my out of pocket cost was. The individual at the front desk called the individual responsible for billing and she agreed that I only had to pay the $959.46 which I paid that day. I am now receiving a bill after the fact for the difference of the amount which they already stated I was not responsible for. I dont want this to go to collections and impact my credit when I was assured the day of the surgery that the amount I paid was indeed the correct amount. In addition, I would not have had the procedure done if I would have been quoted the higher amount from the surgery center in the first place. I have talked with multiple people from their collections / billing department but they are of no help as they are just going by the bill that they see on their screen.
