      I received a letter last year of May 2022 from Homestead Designation Services to file Homestead for my property taxes and they will file this to ************************** office. I went to TAD this week to file a protest of my property taxes and was asked if I filed homestead and advised them yes, showing what I received from Homestead Designation Services. Per TAD representative, they are not showing any record of filed Homestead. I was told to check with the clerk. When I asked the clerk of any homestead record, they were not seeing any record and was asked if I paid anything to this company to file homestead for me. I SAID YES I did. I was told they are scam and there is no fee to file homestead. I proceeded in filing a homestead on my own with the clerk at ***'s office. I have attached these check payments I paid Homestead Designation Services. I paid twice last year. They sent me what it looks to be a legitimate letter with envelope they used.I would like to request a refund from these company, they cashed my payment and several complaints have been filed for same reasons.

      The advertisement for service we sent you last year had nothing to do with your property taxes or tax exemption. Tax exemption is done through the appraisal district in the county where the property is located. Filling for tax exemption is free. We assist homeowners with the process of designating their properties as homestead. You acknowledged that you read completely and fully understood our service offer. The following was disclosed: "The designation of homestead under ***** PROPERTY CODE is distinct from the homestead tax exemption. Designation of homestead is not and does not affect homestead TAX EXEMPTION. For information regarding tax exemption please contact the appraisal district." We regret that you misunderstood our service offer. Your refund request is being processed and will be mailed to the address we have on file.

      i am not taking about tax exemption here but you filing a homestead did not happen therefore I demand my refund because they do not show in theor records that homestead was filed nor recorded. I want my money back!

      I received a letter from homestead designation services indicating I needed to send them $79 to continue my homestead tax exemption. I received another letter requesting another $52 for fees to record my homestead exemption. This is a scam and I am writing the company to ask for a refund.

      I received a letter (form) in October 2022 from Homestead Designation Services, LLC., after purchasing and closing on a home in *****. The letter (form) looked very much like a homestead exemption request form. I completed and mailed the form along with a check in the amount of $79.00 to Homestead Designation Services, LLC on 11/30/2022. The check was cashed on 12/12/2022 (please see attached screenshot from my bank records). I have since contacted my appraisal district office in my county to ensure paperwork was filed in ******, **., as I was led to believe, and was what I paid HDS,LLC to do on my behalf. Surprisingly, I was informed and made aware by my tax appraisal district that this was a common scam, and that they do not collect any money to do the homestead exemption. THIS BUSINESS (HDS, LLC .), CASHED MY CHECK AND PROVIDED NO SERVICES! I am totally disgusted and appalled that any person would find this business practice acceptable! I expect nothing less than a refund of $79.00 immediately!! Additionally, Homestead Designation Services, LLC should be investigated for theft due to the fact they collected money and did not provide services they said they would provide . If nothing illegal, they should include in the letter (form) that the company is operating under unethical and misleading business practices! Please provide an update to this complaint as soon as possible! Thank you for your assistance in this matter!

      After the purchase of my home 10/11/2022, I received a letter from Homestead Designation Services stating that it was urgent that I complete my homestead registration or wouldn't be able to file for the 2023 year. This company requested my personal information as well as a check for ***** made out to their company. I was under the impression that this was from the ************** and needed to complete it to ensure I receive my exemption. I sent the check 10/17/2022 thinking this was required and then received another letter 12/01/2022, stating that I needed to send another ***** and send a notarized document. This made me suspicious and looked up this company and realized this company has several complaints. This company misrepresented themselves and I do not consent to utilizing their services. I tried calling this company 12/01/2022 up until 12/05/2022. This company needs to be shut down and now fear that my personal information can be used for criminal dealings.
