On March 13, 2024, ****** from Manning Sprinkler came to my house to give me a free estimate to redo my sprinklers in the ************ yards. I discussed what I was looking for and showed him my automatic timer system and the associated zones. I went back inside and told him to get me when he was done. A short time later, he called and told me that he was all done and that I would get an estimate in ***** days. About 2 hours later, I realized the sprinklers in my front yard were on and had obviously been running a long time. I checked my automatic timer, but it wasnt on so I assumed the sprinklers had been turned on at the ground box. I contacted ****** and said he left the sprinklers running and I couldnt get them to shut off. He did not seem surprised and said he would come back over. He did not arrive until about 4 hours later. He said that the valve in the ground box had crumbled apart when he tried to shut it off and he replaced it. At no time were we told there would be a charge to come back and fix what he broke. If I had been aware that they were going to charge me I would have contacted another company and would not have waited all day allowing my sprinklers to run for 6 hours. On March 22nd, their company showed up and said they needed to check a few things before they finalized their quote. We told them they didnt need to as we had decided to go with a different company. That same day I received an invoice in my email from them for $142.35. I ignored the invoice as I expected that they would do the right thing and delete it, however I continued getting texts, emails & calls about the invoice. On April 9th, I sent them the attached email and yet I am still being harassed by this company. I do not feel that I owe anything as the situation was caused by their technician, I was never told that there would be a charge and never quoted a price.

After reading the original complaint filed by *************** we deleted the invoice she referred to even though there was work was done at this property as noted by our technician ****** below:

Tech Notes From Visit on 3/13/24
On 3/13/24 ****** took notes to do an estimate to revamp the drip system at this property while there he discovered an issue with one of the valves which he repaired. The re[air would not be a part of a free estimate, he discovered that one of the front yard valves didn't close completely due to a hole in the diaphragm and the only way to remedy the problem was to install a new valve.
After replacing the valve he tested it successfully multiple times manually in front of the client and left the timer in the off position.

Obviously there was a communication failure on this job. Why she would think we would replace a valve for free I do not know as she was present when he tested the repaired valve. Still, it wasn't worth the hassle to fight it out with her so we deleted the invoice and noted her account as closed.
Please let me know if you need any further information. Apologies for the delay in processing.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ******** and although the response was a complete lie (****** did not identify a valve problem when he provided the estimate, nor was I home when the valve was fixed - my husband was with ****** when he returned hours later), I find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved. Although the response from Manning Sprinkler
