      30k for divorce case and had to end up firing them. Lack of knowledge on case, didn't file things on time, failed to get info on time leading to me temporarily loosing custody and fines along with almost getting sanctions. Stated one rate and billed another. Did not get there service that I paid for Can I give a negative star? Worst representation one will ever find. Had for a year for my divorce. Ended up firing them and found a much better lawyer. Davis miles lacked organisation, knowledge on my case, follow through and just over all were terrible. Save yourself time and a lot of money and find representation anywhere else. 30k literally down the drain because I made the mistake and called them.

      2023 Horrible representation in family law. Legal shield referral. My lawyer ******* and Gardner failed to know me as a client and failed to represent me adequately in court over child custody and child support. ******* failed to submit paperwork to the court which prolonged my case two months later increasing my bill another 3k+! I paid initially *******+ and now looking at an additional $3347.00 for her failure to submit the required documents to the court on a day prior or day of trial. She let the other lawyer walk all over her in court like she was a newbie. She let the opposing lawyer run the court room without any type of objections. I was told, well give you a discount/not charge you for this being prolonged and still got charged for her failure/prolonging the trial. I called to complain to Mr *********************** no help there. They offered a payment plan for the additional 3k+ they said I owed, then they tagged on interest + fees! These extra fees were never agreed upon, nor mentioned prior to setting it up. I was polite/courteous to them about this and no matter what I had to say, in the end no responses and they defend their lawyer. They should be ashamed of themselves for taking advantage of hard working people.

      I contacted Davis Miles McGuire Gardner in Jan 2023 because my ex husband filed for a divorce. When I first spoke to ******* Gardner I was very clear with him that I had been a stay at home mom for the last 10 years of my life and I have hardly any money. I told him the only way I could give him a $5000 retainer fee would be on a credit card that would *** it out. He insured he would be able to help me. I gave him the $5000 retainer fee on 1/18/23. He started the process. 20 days later he asked for more money and I sent another $1202.58. We hardly got anywhere and the process was so slow. I had to keep calling him to try and figure out what was going on and if we were getting anywhere. He was always very short with me on the phone. Come March we still had gotten nowhere and he then told me I had used up all my retainer fee and wanted to charge me another $5000. I had no more money to continue. I completely got screwed over because they wouldn't continue representing me without the next $5000. I told them I had no money so I had to stop the process. I ended up having to settle and lost a lot and had to agree to a lot of things my ex wanted because I had no help. Davis Miles McGuire Gardner then sent me a bill for over $13,000!!! Thats ON TOP of the $6200 I already spent with them. I was floored. In the end I am now drowning in $19,200 of debt for them literally making a few phone calls and emails on my behalf. That's it! I came to them for help as a single mom with hardly any money to even support myself and 2 kids and they left me worse off then I would have been if I would have never contacted them in the first place. I am not a person that complains. This is actually the first complaint I have EVER put online. But when I was at the worst and darkest time of my life, in need of some major help, they took advantage and left me drowning in debt. The matter ID number is 86089-001. I'm leaving this complaint in hopes they will write off my debt for being no help to me.

      Better Business Bureau:

      I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

      The first day I signed up with legal shield I was never contacted within the 4 hours I scheduled a call for. The next fee times that calls were scheduled within a 4 hour time frame, if I missed the call I wouldn't be contacted back or called back again. I would have to call again and schedule again. One of the call representatives hung up on me one day because she thought I was speaking to her when I wasn't, and just said something then disconnected me. I had a appointment yesterday where it's within a four hour time frame and I missed it before it hung up, called the office directly right back and the lady said she was unavailable. Literally one minute went by from her call and she was busy. When if I would've answered we would've been speaking. I called to ask for internal complaint process and was transferred. The lady I explained to inform me to call the office directly for a strict time to be called which was supposed to be 3 to 330 pm today. I was never called. Then I get a messages late tonight stating they were about to call me and then another right after stating they did. When they did not. I'm not sure but I'm not getting the service I should be getting that are being offered by legal shield in partner with this business.

      While attorney client confidentiality prevents us from disclosing information about our representation of **************, we can certainly address our service levels.

      We disagree with Ms. ****** characterization of our response time.  She did not understand the app she used when requesting a specific appointment time for a telephone call. Our records show we replied to her timely. Our customer service reached out to her to explain how to make an appointment for a telephone call and it seemed her concerns were resolved.
