I find the response from Midas interesting as I received a phone call on Tuesday, July 8th from the manager of the local Midas shop indicating that they were willing to give me a refund of $530.00 as I was over charged for the alternator.  I explained that the refund amount was not acceptable as I don't believe the alternator replacement was correct.  There is absolutely no way that they cleaned the cables around the batter as the mobile mechanic found crusted material all over the battery and once they cleaned the cables, the car started without any problem.  The battery was brand new as I initially thought that was the problem and replaced it.  I also did not reject any recommended service of $77.98 as they mentioned.  Again, I feel that the work that was performed was done in error and I was charged an excessive amount for a part that would have cost around $340.00.  Given the fact that the car didn't start after sitting over night and the fact that after the mobile mechanic cleaned the cables the car has started up immediately without any problems is an indication that the alternator was replaced in error and I was charged for services that were not warranted.  When I told the manager that the refunded amount of $530.00 that was being offered was not fair or reasonable, he got mad and hung up on me.  Very unprofessional.on inspection, he immediately identified the true issue: severely corroded battery terminal wires, which were preventing proper electrical conduction. He cleaned the terminals with baking soda and water, and the truck started immediately and has worked normally since. The mechanic further explained that alternator failure is extremely rare in a 2019 vehicle and strongly believed the part did not need to be replaced. He also stated that the $1,715.53 charged was excessive for that job. It is now clear that Midas misdiagnosed the issue, performed unnecessary repairs, and failed to fix the actual problem.I feel completely cheated. I paid $1,715.53 for a service that did not address or resolve the core issue. I am requesting a full refund for the alternator replacement or, at minimum, a return of my original alternator and a partial refund for the misdiagnosis and unnecessary labor. When researching the cost of the part, it is 3 times the average cost on the market.

Mr. ************ is mistaken in regards to unnecessary repairs.  He requested that we check an issue he was experiencing on his 2018 ****** Tacoma pickup in regards to a starting problem.  We recommended a Starting Charging Test that would have cost $77.98 but he declined.  Instead, after cleaning the cables at the battery site, we performed an inhouse diagnostic test on the vehicle.  It showed that the Alternator was not performing as intended.

Our Manager, ***** ********, contacted Mr. ************ to discuss our findings.  He approved the purchase of the new Alternator ($1,715.53 which included a discount of $180 off our regular price).  We tested the vehicle and it started right up.

Mr. ************ pickup his vehicle on 7/05/25 at 4:20 PM, and paid for the repairs (copy of credit card payment attached).  The vehicle started up immediately for him.  The vehicle was performing perfectly.

We are not sure what the mobile mechanic did, but we had already cleaned the terminal wires at the battery prior to performing our inhouse diagnostic test.

Mr. ************ received necessary OEM parts and labor (with a discount).  Our work is guaranteed.  If he was unhappy, we are more than glad to look at the vehicle another time.

He is not warranted a refund for honest parts and labor.

Brought my car in on the 17th at noon for oil change and windshield wipers were not draining causing it to leak into the drivers side. Showed a video of the floor being wet. Explained had an evap code. Asked about a squeaking sound when driving and that the air conditioning only gets cold after driving may need Freon. I called at 3:30 to check what the diagnosis was. Was told the oil change was done and the windshield wipers as well nothing on the 2 other issues. I was never told the price for this diagnostic prior to and was charged over 270 initially for this even though I knew the code so I was charged for a gas cap which wasnt supplied. Whenever I gave gone to any shop before they do anything they tell you the cost so you agree to it. This did not occur so I was stuck paying 220 to find out what I already knew it was an evap code n needed a gas cap. I then calls at 4:30 that wouldnt make it in before 5 pm. Paid over the phone and they said they would leave the keys in the tire. The car is in their building which is locked. Now its Sunday they are closed I cannot use my car which is how I make an income and my car which has water leaking is sitting building mold so Im losing money on top of paying 200$ to find out I need a gas cap!

Hello, on march *******, we took our jeep in for two repairs. Those repairs were a gasket and to diagnose fix a check engine light issue. Please keep in mind my a/c in my car worked perfectly fine before this. No leaks or anything. Cold air since I financed this car in 2021. It's always been fine. When we got the jeep back the next day on the 31st, my a/c was no longer working. We were told it was because of a vent rod on the vehicle. There was no such rod. We payed exactly ***** for this car to get fixed only for them to ask for more money to fix my now a/c issue. The car was still overheating as well. I emailed corporate and I was told to bring it into the Midas on speedway and they'd do a dye test and diagnosis for free. The Midas I brought it to couldn't do it there so they towed it to Midas on Tanque verde. When we checked on the car I was told all issues would be fixed since it was there fault. Well I ended up being charged another $995 for them just give me my car back. Please keep in mind we brought it back in on 4/9/25 and barely got it back in 4/12/25. We asked them why all of a sudden my a/c stopped working and they'd said cars just break sometimes after repairs. I find it hilarious because I paid so much originally especially because there was nothing wrong with the a/c. They keep telling me different reasons it broke all of a sudden. I need help with this issue because it's been such a headache dealing with this and I feel like I lost a whole lot of money

We cannot find any work performed for ****** ***** at our Midas store on 22nd ST.  The invoice submitted was for *** ***** (later, I found this to be a son-in-law).  All work performed was approved by Mr. ***** and was necessary maintenance for this 2014 Jeep Cherokee with ******* miles. This vehicle had to have a new starter before any work could be done. It must be noted that when the cooling system flush was performed it was necessary to use a cleaner to remove rust, scale and sludge and neutralize acid.  This vehicle was badly in need of maintenance.
After the work was done by the Midas store on 22nd St, the vehicle started signs of overheating, the customer called the corporate office instead of the original store the work was done and was instructed to bring the vehicle to the Midas on Speedway.
The manager at Speedway didn't have a qualified mechanic working that day and paid to have the vehicle towed to the Midas Verde shop.  When they did the diagnostics.  They fixed the overheating problem, but found the air conditioner's links were cracked so cool air was not working.  The customer was called and given the air conditioner problem.  The gave approval to proceed with the work and paid to have it done.
      1.  All work performed by Midas on 22nd had nothing to do with the air conditioner problem.  The air conditioner was never touched. All work was approved by the customer and this maintenance was badly needed for this vehicle.  No refund allowed.
      2.  Midas at Verde:  Minor adjustments were made to correct the overheating.   When the vehicle left the Midas Verde shop, everything was working properly.  It Should be noted that there is a 90-day warranty.

I got an oil change at 7:30am on 2/14/25 midas on ina with a groupon i paid 14 dollars. i was very satisfied with my service on my civic the day prior and took my boyfriend volkswagen. when i returned home later that day i saw a massive puddle of oil and by 8pm that same day my car had 0 oil in it. my grandfather came out and found the oil plug had not been screwed in at all. then midas proceeded to say it was our fault and refused to send a technician out and asked me to drive my car without oil to the shop to have them look at it. the issue is my grandpa solved the plug issue so it would not be visibly leaking so we could drive the car to the shop like they asked. when my grandpa asked for a oil analysis to check for metal in my motor they refused and said it was my fault. this car had no prior oil leak and they are refusing to take accountability. If i have further motor issues from this i will be paying out of pocket for their lack of accountability. they did state my oil filter housing was worn but it was not broke or leaking oil. followed with the entire plug was lose so the oil housing was not where the oil leak was coming from

      BBB ID #:  22946040
      Tayler Mendoza
      Oil change Complaint

On 2/14/25, we performed an oil change for Tayler Mendoza.  During the inspection before the oil change was done, she was advised that the Oil Filter Housing was badly worn.  She was given a quote, but declined to replace it.

After she got home, she called us to say that oil was leaking from her car.  We told her we could either send out a technician or have her car towed to the shop. She said she would have her grandfather look at the vehicle because he does all the repairs to her vehicle.

We soon received a call from the grandfather.  He said the leak was coming from the Oil Filter housing and that we should have told her it needed replaced.  We advised him that we did and it was noted on her invoice.  He also asked us to perform an oil analysis to check for metals in the motor.  This has nothing to do with an oil change, so we said we couldn’t do that.

Tayler Mendoza now states that the oil was coming from the plug and not the housing.  This is different than the statement her grandfather told us.

We would never ask a customer to drive their vehicle to our shop with no oil.

Our work is 100% guaranteed.  Had she allowed us to have her car towed into our shop, we could have avoided this confusion.

So Again, there was no acceptance, no apology, or no resolution to a improper complete job on the service I've paid for. This company has lied and denied what was really done. The task might of been done but not proper and somewhat fully completed as my oil was still black due to rushing the work without fully draining the bad oil out, filters or fluids weren't topped off, tire rotation, not certain of the car being fully inspected as the job was quick due to it being rushed and doing a full complete job for the amount of money I've paid. Jacob on the other hand has really denied what had really happened and denies any wrongdoings and lacks any kind of good management skills as he is impatient and him clearly reacting due to me being upset of him refusing to assist me any further. He didn't like the fact I was upset and he was quick to retaliate instead of wanting to listen the moment I walked in the door with the complaint. Jacob clearly has denied any wrongdoing nor did I get 1 apology or acceptance but instead responding with rejecting an improper job and his unprofessionalism.  I feel I will only continue to hear more false statements from both Jacob and with this Midas corporation.

On 1-21-25 Jose Longoria brought his vehicle into our shop that had 175,580 mileages.

He asked for the $30 oil change.  As the mechanic performed the oil change and the oil filter was replaced, Jose Longoria stood in our shop and watched it done.  He also watched as the tire rotation was performed.

For an unknow reason, he went to our Midas Oracle location and had the manager (Devonte Rodriquez) confirm that the oil change and oil filter had been completed.  The Oracle mechanic placed the vehicle on the rack and showed him the Green Tork Seal that was clean and proved it was newly applied.  He was also shown the oil filter canister which was bright and shiny, this proved it was new.

Jose Longoria then returned to the Verde location and started complaining that he wanted his money back because he didn’t like the look of the oil.  (Sometimes when a vehicle has many miles the engine can turn the oil to dark color.)

When our manager, Jacob, told him he could do nothing because the work was performed and even witnessed by Jose Longoria himself, the customer cursed at Jacob (several times).  Jacob just told him to have a nice day.

Jose Longoria was mistaken when he said there was no new oil, filter and tire rotation.  He witnessed it himself and even had this inspected by the Oracle Midas shop.

Had me come to them after they sealed my oil pan plug into my oil pan with threadlocker. I cannot remove the nut. They have damaged my vehicle and refuse to correct the problem they created. I am either going to get this fixed right or I will be pursuing legal action. This isn't the first time I've had to deal with their rocky attitudes and disrespect.

On the onset, we did not use a blue “thread locker” on Mr. ******* vehicle when the oil was changed on 5-16-24 on his 2019 Jeep Cherokee.  The Midas product used is a green color and is called Torkseal.

On 11-27-24 (the day before Thanksgiving) *** ***** called our office and explained he couldn’t get the nut off.  He said the color of the product was blue, which is not the color of our product.  Are product is green in color and is called Torkseal. (see pic enclosed).  However, as a courtesy, we told him to bring the vehicle in and we would get the nut off.  He said he would call when he was on his way, he never called.  We explained that our shop was closing at 5:30 pm, due to Thanksgiving.

Our driveway is used by other business.  I’m not sure who he saw when he entered, but it was not one of us.

I'm not asking for a refund. Just a billing adjustment. I have not disputed that fact that work was done. The question has been the inaccurate communication and billing item on my invoice which also states that a fuel pump was replaced. Are customers really expected to inspect parts and item numbers based on Rhyan's explanation such that was an error on the invoice which implies incongruencies?

      Thank you,

      Myah

ector". I inquired why the invoice given to me reflects that the fuel pump and other parts were fixed and that their repair for a different part costs the same as Mercedes Benz. He requested that I email him the invoice from Mercedes Benz that reflected indeed the fuel pump was not replace. I emailed Midas and provided a copy of the Mercedes invoice with no response for over a week until I escalated to Midas corporate website to issue a complaint. Rhyan left me a voicemail after receiving the complaint from corporate requesting a call back. I requested email correspondence instead, which I have not gotten as of yet. Attached is the invoice from Midas and one from Mercedes Benz that states the fuel pump was not replace. I'm simply asking for the billing to be adjusted because the fuel pump replacement service quoted by Midas was not done.

      BBB Complaint # 22574536

RESPONSE FROM Midas Suto Ser5vice Center 6740 E Tanque Verde, Tucson, AZ 85715

Customer:  Myah Knight 7752 E Elk Creek Rd – Tucson, AZ 85750 405/816-6545

Midas installed a Part # DFT4010 & A019997234564 – which is the new Fuel Pump Gasket and Fuel Transfer Pump (which feed the two fuel pumps).  At the time these were installed, the two fuel pumps appeared to be operating normally and didn’t need to be replaced.  Unfortunately, the terminology “fuel pump:  Remove & Replace Fuel Pump” was not corrected to read Fuel Pump Gasket and Fuel Transfer Pump.  However, the part #’s and charges were correct.   The charges were a total of $424.99 plus tax and labor of $424.99 which totaled $1,116.50.  These were necessary and would have been replaced by Mercedes-Benz at the time the fuel pumps were replaced.  Mercedes-Benz should have read the part numbers on our invoice to advise the customer that these were not for the Fuel pumps.

We recommended Myah Knight go to the dealer and have the main computer chip replaced/reprogrammed so as not to get the error codes.  This can only be done at the dealer.

We never told Myah Knight that we installed fuel injectors.  Myah Knight is asking for a refund for fuel pumps, but we did not install fuel pumps.  We have tried to advise Myah, without success.

We have tried to contact Myah Knight at least 10 times to see if we could help explain or show her the parts we replaced and why.  We have had no success in returned calls.

Page 5:  A picture of the fuel pump area was provided by Mercedes-Benz.  You can clearly see the new Seal/Fuel pump gasket (white) and the new Fuel Transfer Pump that feeds the fuel pumps (white).  It must be noted that the fuel pumps were working properly at the time of our service.  A Filter was also installed (near the drivers’ side back seat) that came with the DFT4010kit.

Our work and parts are under warranty.

      Business Response

      Date: 11/20/2024

Please see word file.  Myah Knight is asking for a refund for fuel pumps, but we did not install fuel pumps.  We installed a new fuel pump gasket and fuel transfer pump which feed the two fuel pumps.  Part #s are accurate.

A reminder, Midas has a warranty on all parts and labor in any Midas shop in the USA.

We have tried many times to contact Myah Knight without success.

On 08/19/2024 my husband and I brought in our 2017 Hyundai Elantra GT to Midas off Oracle Rd that was having issues not starting, and stalling. After running diagnostic, the mechanic had determined that it was a fuel pressure issue and told us we needed the fuel pump replaced. Instead of replacing it, they did a rebuild. That job cost us $888.69 (invoice # 0118289). My husband brought it home, went to go to work and as soon as he pulled out of the driveway the car stalled so we brought it back. Midas then told us it was the high pressure fuel pump and tried to quote us at $2,300 for the repair. I ordered the part online for $145.00 and they charged us on 08/27/24 $200.53 for the labor (invoice # 0118306) to switch out the high pressure fuel pump. Again we got the car and brought it home and it was still having the SAME PROBLEM. So we took it back a 3rd time. After leaving the car there for 3 days they finally told us they could not figure out what the problem was and could not fix it. We took it to a different mechanic who had to rebuild/reseal the original job Midas did and found the fuel filter was clogged most likely causing the pressure reading on the high pressure fuel pump to not read correctly so he changed the fuel filter. He said any good mechanic would know to check that before changing the high pressure fuel pump, and I should ask for a refund. So I went back to Midas on 09/14/2024 and spoke with Pete and requested a refund for the rebuild they did. He said he would have to talk to the person incharge of issuing refunds. I got a call 09/16/2024 saying the best they could do is give us a $200 store credit to retain us as customers. This is completely unacceptable. I am now requesting a FULL REFUND for ALL WORK PERFORMED because the problem was NEVER FIXED and ended up costing us more money to go to a different mechanic.

Please note that Erin Quintero has a warranty on our parts and labor.  The charge on invoice 118289 was for an oil change and a Fuel Pump total of $888.69.  Invoice 118306  was for the high pressure fuel pump. for $200.53, which we have offered a full refund for.  Instead of accepting the refund, she chose to go somewhere else to have the filter replaced.  We were never given the opportunity to take care of this problem.

BBB Business Profiles may not be reproduced for sales or promotional purposes.

BBB Business Profiles are provided solely to assist you in exercising your own best judgment. BBB asks third parties who publish complaints, reviews and/or responses on this website to affirm that the information provided is accurate. However, BBB does not verify the accuracy of information provided by third parties, and does not guarantee the accuracy of any information in Business Profiles.

When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.

BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.

As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
