I sent a light fixture on 7/10/23. I paid extra to have it ‘fragile packed’. I’ve spent thousands on shipping durin the past few months. I have never been asked by any employee the value of my item. This light fixture was sold to a client on EBay for $700. She was extremely happy to have won this piece. It arrived broken. She contacted me for a refund and shared the packaging was bad and she was upset. I was upset! I called the UPS store to be taped to so rudely by the manager who told me that it was he who personally packed the piece. I explained the situation. He went on to chastise me for not paying more money to insure the item. I thought when the store did the packing and shipping that it was guaranteed to simply arrive in one piece. Not not if you don’t ‘declare the value’. His employee failed to ask or inform me of this information. Now I’m dealing with a $700 loss! He tells me that I get $100 insurance but I should have known about declaring the value. I was upset at the lack of accountability on his part for anything. He was barking at me and I in turn raised my voice so he told me to ‘deal with a claim and the problem online’ and hung up on me. What horrible service. They do a bad job at packing and the item arrives in pieces and too bad so sad for both the recipient and for me. Terrible business!
