I had Marz Mechanical come out through my home warranty company to fix my **. They installed a new compressor in my unit. My problem is that they were evacuating the freon from my system into the atmosphere. Which by law is very illegal to begin with, and can have up to a $44,500 fine from the **** To which I did report the company to for violating the Clean Air Act. They also were trying to charge me $150 for a recovery fee. And the recovery fee is what is charged for them to capture my freon into a task and dispose of it properly. I did speak to someone from their office and they did remove the fee because they didn't actually recover any freon. But what was really upsetting to me is that they tried to lie and make excuses for them releasing the freon into the atmosphere after the fact. Now they're saying that I have a leak in my coil in the attic and that my freon was low to begin with. So that's why it was ok for them to release the freon into the atmosphere because it was under a certain amount. If I noticed what they were trying to pull over on me, then how many other people do they do this to on a daily basis? They're liars, dishonest, and break the law. They shouldn't be allowed to display the BBB badge on their web page or anywhere that people can see to make the potential client think that they're an honest company. Attached is a picture of the tech releasing the freon into a bucket of water. The water is to muffle the sound of the freon being let out of the ** unit. So that right there tells me that they do it often.

We repaired the hvac unit on 9/5/23 through home warranty insurance. We advised the warranty as well as the homeowner we recommend a full replacement based off the age and condition of the unit approximately 22 years old. In quoting the repair to the home warranty we include freon recovery and recapture in our estimates as well as any miscellaneous items needed with labor to complete the scope of work. On 9/5/23 our technicians arrived to the customers home to repair the hvac system. In doing the work the technicians found the system with 10psi on the system. The technicians visually inspected the system and found heavy rust and corrosion on the indoor unit which is consistent with a 20+ year old unit. The technicians also noticed oil build up on the ******** valves which were replaced with the hvac Repair. Upon completion of the repairs and startup of the hvac system the homeowner disputed his recovery charge of $150 stating the technicians did not recover the freon from the system. After speaking with the technicians onsite we confirmed the systems issues and advised the customer of our findings while on site. We discounted the customer the recovery charge and completed the work order.
