I completed my one year contract with The Camp Anaheim and was on a month to month basis or at least thats what I was told!I ended up having to replace the bank card that they had on file and did not update it with them for a couple months. I received some suspicious calls from a third party billing service they apparently use but honestly thought it was some kind of scam because the caller id actually said spam risk and the area code was not local. I finally got around to listening to a voicemail from that number and found out it was on behalf of the camp so I called them back and to my surprise they had been billing me for the months that my card had been cancelled. I could not believe it, I was confused and asked for clarification because as far as I knew, I was done with my contract, I was on a month to month, and my bank card had not made payment so how did they continue to add the membership dues to a card that wasnt even active? I had never heard of anything like this, this felt very much like a scam! I have never encountered a business that continues to add month after month fees for services that arent being used and are not being paid. The women I spoke to said I needed to cancel the membership because they did not terminate for lack of payment but were charging me late fees and penalties. I asked her to immediately cancel and she replied I would have to wait another 30 days, adding another month of fees for a membership I did not want and was not using and the late fees because they hadnt been able to collect payment. At this point I am over 500$ in debt because she would not work with me and remove the late fees and just let me pay the balance to clear it up and be done with this nightmare.

I want to file a complaint with this location, its employees and their superiors. I told the business director about my mental health issues solely because I wanted to take time away from the gym and I wanted him to allow me to not be charged while I was away on medical leave. He proceeded to give me his take on medical advice and told me to promise him Id stop taking my medications. A few days passed and other members told me that hed disclosed my personal medical information to them. He also made comments to myself and other people that my mental health issues were basically made up by me. Hes violated my rights in so many ways. I reached out to his superiors, and was transferred to customer service on their behalf. They did nothing to rectify the situation and to this day havent even had the decency to refund me for leaving that gym early in December because I was so embarrassed that people knew my personal business. Its literally the least they could do.
