On Tuesday, April 16 I signed a contract with American Movers Direct and paid $3997.50, half the total moving cost. The agent, *******, estimated my household to need 1600 cf. and included the transport of one vehicle. The week of the move, May 30, I sent pictures to ******* at ************, of all the boxes packed and furniture in the rooms as requested. A new estimate of 1986 cf was given to me and a new total of $12,000 and another $3000 as half payment requested only payable by vemno or direct transfer from our bank. No credit cards or debit cards were accepted as payment. I paid the additional $3000. The company estimated June 9-10 as loading dates. The truck came late in the evening on Monday, June 10. It was labeled as Acirfa *** Lines LLC, ******, **, MC#*******, USDOT#*******, GVW:26.000.I walked the three men through my home and they said it would not all fit in the truck and that the truck was actually full. They would need to get a bigger truck to come, but that truck was having mechanical difficulties. They also informed me that my belongings would not arrive in at our new home for a month. They left as it was now very late in the evening and they had already completed another job earlier that day. They said they would contact me in the morning with how to proceed. They never contacted me the next day. I texted that evening asking when another truck would arrive and they replied that I should contact the office. When I asked for a phone number for the office they replied that I had it already. I called my other contacts with American Movers and let them know that the movers who came did not take my stuff and actually showed up with a full truck and now would not give me an answer for when they would return. The office said that the movers marked my account as a cancelation because my things would not fit in the truck they brought and because I wanted my belongings right away, not after a month. That makes my deposit unrefundable.
