First Alarm is an "authorized vendor" for **************************, and there are 9 other authorized vendors for ************************** offering "home security" alarm/monitoring services in the ********, ********** area in which I live.First Alarm only offers a 3-year service contract, which "auto-renews" for 1-year after the 3-year initial contract expires -- I think this should be an illegal business *********** 2022, 3 months after I subscribed to First Alarm, I suspended my service because I was completely renovating my house, and the obsolete First Alarm technology the former owner had installed -- wired sensors on every window in the house -- had to be removed because every window needed to be replaced -- and was replaced. When I told First Alarm that I wanted to cancel my contract upon completion of my home renovation, they told me they would bill me for the "unused" portion of my 3-year contract, and threatened me with the debt collection process if I refused to buy out the remainder of my service contract.Additionally, First Alarm just told me that they are going to bill me $599 for an obsolete "cellular module" that was removed by my contractor during renovation -- I can buy a newer version of this same module for $210 from Alarm System Store in ********, *******. I also just learned that I can buy exactly the same "monitoring" service offered by First Alarm from ************************** directly for a lower monthly fee than First Alarm is charging -- and without locking myself into a 3-year contract.I see that First Alarm has a current rating of C Minus on the Better Business Bureau website -- I think a more accurate rating would be D or F.
