I went into the tailor shop this past saturday. They cannot work on my dresses, so I packed them . I asked for my money back -$410 in cash- They refused to give it back. I gave the cash to an employee. The owner threw me out of the shop, keep saying that I was lying

    Business Response

    Date: 06/14/2024

Never in our over 25 years in business has anyone attempted to defraud us like this. We told her that her garments were not suited for our machines and to be on the safe side we declined her business. This was on the second day, the first day was drop off. On the second day, we told her we could not work on her garments after all and handed them back. She stated that she paid when she absolutely did not. *****, owner, and *****, my employee, were both present when she had left the garments. We have a very strict system in place to differentiate prepaid and "pay when picked up" orders are placed, a system that has never failed in **************************************************** our shop, she even grabbed my employee's arm forcibly and was yelling at her. She frightened several of our customers. ************** has been notified and we have an open case with person. We had several customers witness this and encouraged us to file a report. She yelled at me to shut up several times as my employee and I discussed amongst ourselves. We did ask her to leave several times, but instead she lingered for over 1 hour. The police has encouraged us to put up surveillance. My employee will likely be pressing charges. We have proof she did not pay, while she has ZERO proof she did. She has sent us threatening letters pretending to be 1. Neighborhood watch, 2. the Media 3. Arcadia newspaper and is demanding $410. We now have to have surveillance cameras due to her violent nature. We value our customers very much and would never jeopardize our reputation over ANY dollar amount. Abhorrent behavior from a likely scam artist.

Also, no customer leaves our business without a receipt, no matter the dollar amount but ESPECIALLY a $400+ order. We have her receipt (a carbon copy is provided to EVERY customer, we keep the original). Nobody has to "ask for a receipt". On the top right there is an order number for example let's say that this person's receipt # is #****. The receipts before, ex: #****, #**** and the receipt after hers, ex #****, #**** are real receipts with actual customers phone numbers on it. They said they are willing to declare that those receipts are from their real orders. This would be gladly shown in court, if the plaintiff decides to state that the receipt is fake. We very much look forward to a lawsuit which she relentlessly is threatening us with, so we can countersuit defamation (confident we will win due to the hard evidence we have along with the police reports and witness statements). We definitely believe she is trying to extort us. She has also called my phone several times and doesn't say anything. She has sent several threats where she pretends to be someone she's not.
