July 2nd I came back to the Clark Center to see why my paintings got damaged that I noticed when I picked them up July 1st. 3 are very faded now and I brought them with me and prints. I had no idea how they could get damaged. I spoke with D*** **** and showed him the difference comparing the prints and pictures before to what these originals looked like now. He saw the obvious difference. I was told by L******* more than once, and by D*** **** that day, that no sun comes inside. He told me it was UV rays maybe reflecting off sidewalk. I asked if they have insurance. He said he’d look into it and call me.

On July 1st Taking my paintings back, I mentioned a painting looked faded and asked again about the sun and L****** again told me no sun comes inside but did not comment regarding the difference in the painting I was holding

I did not hear from D*** **** for over a week so I called him July 10th. He told me he had not called their insurance company. He told me he had done searches and found an article that said if you leave paintings in the dark with blue watercolor inks, the colors come back. He told me I had signed a paper waving any damage. I told him I thought it was just for theft and asked and told they always keep doors locked. So I thought they were safe from harm.

I told him, and Clark Center knew, I have constant nerve pain and hurt rt arm and fingers so I call each painting a miracle because they are, that I could even do it. It hurts me more to paint them. He said he was going to talk to others and get back to me. I asked him to email me the article and also the paper I had signed. I did not receive anything. I have not heard from him at all.

I never would have hung my artwork there if I knew they could be destroyed!

I felt honored to have 30 of my paintings hang on the walls of the Clark Center. But many things they have done seem unethical. Forcing the artists to pay 20% of sales and telling us to report it as a donation is one. I was happy knowing this money would go to high school students but I think the Clark Center seems all about themselves and not about the artist. Far from what I thought, they don’t seem to promote the artist to get more eyes on their work to help make sales for the artist who then can donate the 20%. I have reasonably priced variety of prints and in 2 months sold just 2 apart from my art reception sales. They should mention and invite the public, and on stage, to view the artwork. And that 20% of sale will be going for scholarships at the high school.

I was told to write a bio but then it was changed and words taken out I wanted to say. I asked L******* to please just use the one I wrote to hang near my paintings but she still had her uncomfortable version on the Clark Center website that mentioned my name 7 times I noticed later after it had been there for quite a while. She had not changed it although I told her it made me feel uncomfortable the words she chose and words left out like K-Love music, a Christian radio station.

At the end of June was suppose to be a Season Announcement Party. I was going to come and sit by my artwork and Susanna the other artist could do the same. L******* officially invited both of us and said we could meet the “Big Whigs” there. I put it on my calendar and looked forward to that event. But then 6 days before, it got canceled. Very sad! You don't usually get invited to a party, or opportunities, and then have it taken away days before it..with no explanation or a personal notification. I think each artist should have been contacted since it would affect us.

I have a lot of artwork, each named and some numbered as I told L*******. That is what I put on all my receipts. C**** sounds so sure I knew but no, I do not know what sold. I was waiting 2 months to finally learn this information. That is what I thought the Clark Center was in charge of keeping track of and I would get an actual receipt showing this since I did not get a chance at my reception to learn this, since they were told to pay at the box office. If ANY place sold many items: ovens, washers, refrigerators, toasters, and someone in charge sold some, the owner would want to know WHAT sold. Not just given a check for him to figure out what was gone. He would also want to know WHO had purchased them!

It was 2 months + 11 days before I got my check with no actual receipt.

I never got a response from L******* requesting better receipt and mentioning what I had been given attached to check looked wrong and had mistake. In my email I asked her: So are you saying if I had sold 10 of my originals I would not know who they went to or which ones sold? I would have to figure that out myself what ones you took money for? No answer or receipts with who purchased my artwork.

L******* wrote me earlier and said this: I do apologize that there was a misunderstanding among the responsibilities that I told you I would take on for your art sales. When I make the sales, I only keep track of which artist the piece belonged to and the price, as none of the other information is pertinent to our procedure of art sales here at the Clark Center. Looking out for the Clark Center but not for the artist.
