Ford Ranger was brought in to Ace Auto Care (located at **** *** **** Atascadero, CA 93422) for a routine oil change and tire rotation on 12/27/22. The amount paid was $116.33.

On 12/31/22, we had to pull over from Highway 46 when noticing the truck was bouncing more than normal for road conditions, to discover the lug nuts were loose on the tires. We tightened lug nuts with lug wrench (one tire was extremely loose and would have likely fallen off) and drove to the nearest auto shop (American Tire Depot, Paso Robles, CA) to have them torqued to spec, which their technician confirmed every single lug nut was loose and should not be from a routine alignment. We then contacted the original auto repair shop (Ace) to inform them of the matter to which they offered to re-check the lug nuts. We declined to have the lug nuts rechecked by Ace since we were too far from their shop and had already chosen one in closer proximity.

On 1/6/23, Ace contacted us via text and email indicating they believed Ford has a recall on wheel hubs not seating in properly, and causing wheel lug nuts to come loose, and not being the fault of their shop. We feel this is dismissing responsibility of their actions.

On 1/10/23, we purchased a torque wrench and confirmed the lug nuts were loose again from the specs for this vehicle. As of 1/10/23, we have found zero recalls on the VIN for the truck and believe the original issue of not tightening the lug nuts and then driving on them for several days unaware of the issue has caused permanent damage to the rims and tires (now causing re-occurrent loosening of lug nuts). The business has already said their position is that the initial loosening of lug nuts is due to a recall. We feel it is unlikely they will offer to replace the rims/tires and provide a refund, hence the reason for filing a complaint.
