    The initial free consultation on Friday, February 16th, was to review the accuracy and completeness of my taxes that were finished with another accountant for the year 2023 and to give me a final conclusion if anything needed to be done or if he would need to revise my taxes for a fee in a later visit (which never took place). It was understood that this meeting was solely for assessment purposes, with no mention of charges. I trusted him and his company to provide honest and transparent guidance. I gave him three years of my tax files (2021-2023), and he told me that after five days, he would call to set an appointment to let me know if his services would be needed and how much it would cost. After ten days of not hearing back, I began to get concerned, so I decided to pick up my files and get service elsewhere(no services were given at all). I called his office and let them know I would be coming by to pick up my tax files (2021-2023) that I left with him and would use a different company. On March 1st, 2024, I arrived to collect the three tax files that I initially provided during our consultation. His office manager told me the only way I could get my files back would be if I were to pay $350 by credit card or check. I told her that we never agreed to a fee and that I also had given the company three of my tax records (2021-2023). She only showed me the 2023 tax file, claiming not to have 2021-2022. They claimed that they did not have the previous years, but my wife, who was with me on February 16th, saw that I gave them all three years' tax records. This sudden demand for payment, coupled with withholding my documents and demanding payment for the 2023 tax file that was in front of me, felt like a clear attempt to exhort money for services that had not been rendered or agreed upon.
