Purchased firearm online. Transfer online states $120. Went in, it was $120 plus california transfer $37= $157. Most firearm dealers have transfer price built in. This is price gouging. I decided against transfer as it turned my $100 purchase into $250. Online understood the transfer only being $120. Gun dealer being difficult would not do anything to resolve it. Stated business is business. I was informed by original seller they couldn't sell it and would have to send back eventually. Dealer stated he would hold it until he at least received his $50 dollars.

    Business Response

    Date: 04/18/2023

In response to the complaint made by J***** *******. Customers purchased an item through a company called BUDS Gunshop. It is up to the customer to do research on where they would like to ship as the website gives approximate fees but it is ultimately up to the shop on how much we charge for the transfer fee. It needs to be clear that he had the choice of what store his item was sent to. Our store charges $125 as a processing fee to receive and process any firearm. The state mandates a fee of $37.19 for the DROS fees stated by Pen. Code, §§ *****, *****, 28300. He said through BUDS Gunshop they said NAG's prices said $75 for the processing fee which is different from the state mandatory DROS fees($37.19). We were willing to work with him to honor the $75 processing fee and $37.19 DROS Fee but he declined. We spoke to Buds Gunshop and they told us to ship the item back to them and they would be in contact with J*****.
