Hired Estate **** to move and conduct estate sale. Quote for move was $120/hr. Morning of move (10/2) contract presented added $250 for truck rental. Estate sale verbal quote was a ***** split with $850 cleanout fee. No written contract offered, only great detail how sale would work. Oct 3, when handing check for $1890 (receipt shows $1690) for the move, only then that ******* made surprise proposal to sell to one buyer. In response to our shocked look, ******* said: "Didn't you go over that with her, ****?" Both had many opportunities to offer that alternative when discussing the actual in home sale. My brother, sister and I worked hours organizing items left behind, right down to drawers labeled with contents, gift bags sorted, Hallmark ornaments sorted and in boxes, taking down model train and organizing track and cars in boxes, putting ****** Glass in boxes, Barbie ***** and *************************** village in boxes, etc. I had books, LPs, music, in separate boxes. Most everything was well organized. They even asked us to determine value and my sister worked hours and presented 5 pages of items and their value. I agreed to one-buyer, but we were not invited to meet with buyer(s), only one buyer was present, a phone call from **** said the buyer only offered $2000, but they got him up to $2500. The buyer actually helped move his own stuff. Have pictures of full garage and an email from **** saying Estate **** were out of town and buyer would be cleaning out. I asked since they did not have to work to set up and hold sale (3 days minimum) were they still taking 40%, i.e. $1000 - yes because they had to clean out - that is $150 more than original $850. Their operation is a pure bait and switch plan which they pulled on others. I asked why were there not several buyers to bid on contents. They told me the buyer was ********************* who owns a big store in Redlands, CA, who they always use. There is a liaison that needs investigating. Does Estate **** get kickback?
