Zero support. The *** is slow and down all the time. They are gatekeepers of user data on the *** and will not give access to basic data about the paid service.

I would like to share my experience with this company. They are extremely hard to work with if you are not a techie. I have had an on-going problem with overcharging and lack of responses. They will cancel your access to emails when you have made no mistake. They will not explain to you how to correct their issue then lie to you saying you made a mistake. In the past I have lost emails and have no access to them. There is a reason for their 1 star ****** reviews. Avoid this company.

I've been with Dreamhost since August 1st 2007. That's 16 years. I originally had plan where I was paying just under $200 every 2 years. The first issues came when they decided to stop supporting a version of PHP I was using which break multiple domains, but I was able to work around those issues. The first SERIOUS problem, however, came when I was a few days late on paying for a domain renewal. Even though the hosting was fully paid for they suspended the hosting plan and I suffered a permanent loss of data. When I complained about that, explaining that while it would be reasonable to take offline a domain that isn't paid for, that it's wrong to delete the data I fully paid them to keep safe is wrong, they just said "That's how it works" and to this date they continue to do it that way. The only way to circumvent that issue is to keep the domain registration through a different company. In 2021, they started to roll out new domain hosting prices, but didn't bother to notify everywhere ahead of time. Instead they notified people shortly before the hosting plan would come up for renewal. After complaining they agreed to give me a plan of 3 years for $287.64, which woud increase to $395.64 afterwards. In 2023 they sank to a new low. They created a new "PHP Extended Support" plan charging $5 a month starting in May which they automatically added to my account without my prior consent. I only found out about it after they then suspended the domain hosting I did pay for because I didn't pay when I never agreed to pay and I had no choice but to pay it to keep the domain hosting. Otherwise I'd have been out a full year of the hosting I paid for. So now they are in the habit of creating new plans, applying them to accounts without the accountholders permission, and then using non payment for these new fees as an excuse to disrupt hosting for what was agreed to where data would then be deleted. So now I have to find a new hosting provider.

Tried to create an account, to host my online portfolio site and I was told my account was pending approval before they ultimately closed it and didn't tell me why. If it was possible I'd give a negative star rating.

I've been with Dreamhost for over 8 years. Customer support has been fast, helpful and friendly. I had an issue once, years ago, but don't remember what it was, but it was fixed quickly. When I contact them with questions, I get an actual human to answer with little difficulty. I guess the only people who leave reviews here are the few that have problems?

Nightmare dumpster fire. These people could not even create my account before telling me that I needed to go elsewhere. What did I do? I used a gmail to signup. Well I went somewhere else with my clients and will share this with each of them.

I never had problems with them until now. I have several accounts with them, from shared hosting to VPS. I am a web designer and have worked with many different hosts over my 30 year career. I have never had less helpful support and I have never felt as cheated as now. For one of the sites I host with them (for the past 5 years), My client and I decided to no longer host their site with Dreamhost because of serious performance issues (the moment we moved the site to a new host, we got an A rating on gtmatrix. Before it was an F).Long story short, they decided to 'renew' the hosting contract anyways. We did NOT sign up for auto renewal. They now will not let us close the account until we pay. What a pitty. What used to be a great, friendly company, is now a cheat.

Had my account for 5 seconds, was flagged by an automated system for potential fraud/abuse, reached out to support and was told that the robots decision was final and that my account that I didn't even get to use would not be instated. Terrible company, unhelpful support, seek hosting elsewhere, do NOT give them your money.

Dreamhost is a corrupt company, they provide slow service and have rude support who are incapable of helping with the slightest problem. When I tried to close my account, they added on a little charge that I had to pay, but when you go to pay it, their system is set up to not let the payment go through. So, there's no way to close the account and they charge you for another year that you don't want.Unless you enjoy fighting with your bank to MAYBE get your money back from Dreamhost, I would recommend never doing business with them in the first place.
