    Complaint Summary:

On May 31, 2025, I placed an order through BigHammerWines.com for six bottles of Laurent Perrier Cuvée Rosé Champagne at $69 per bottle, totaling $446.09 after tax. This price was promoted via Google Ads, and the product was clearly listed on their website. I received an email confirmation stating the order was being prepared for shipment.

Three days later, I was contacted by Big Hammer Wines stating there was a pricing error, that they had the Brut in stock (not the Rosé I ordered), and that I would need to pay an additional $185.88 to receive the Rosé. I did not agree to this change and requested they honor the original order. Instead, the company unilaterally canceled and refunded my order without my request.

Despite multiple polite attempts to resolve the matter, including with the company’s CEO, they insisted their Terms & Conditions allow for cancellation and refused to fulfill the confirmed order. At no point did they acknowledge the misleading nature of advertising a product via paid search at a specific price, confirming the transaction, and then later attempting to renegotiate or substitute.

    ?

    Why I’m Filing:

This experience reflects poor business practices and a lack of accountability. The price was not unreasonable or clearly erroneous, and the delay in communication (three days) weakens their claim that this was a prompt correction of an honest mistake. I believe this conduct violates fair consumer standards and erodes trust in e-commerce.

    ?

    Resolution Sought:
    • Ideally, I would like the company to honor the original confirmed order at the price paid.
    • At minimum, I’d like the BBB to be aware of the experience and for Big Hammer Wines to acknowledge that canceling confirmed, paid orders—especially those actively promoted—can undermine consumer trust.
