Complaint Against: Ken Grody Ford Salesperson Involved: ***** ***** Date of Incident: May 12, 2025 I am filing this complaint due to a highly unethical and retaliatory act committed by a salesman, ***** *****, at Ken Grody Ford in **********, ***On May 12, 2025, I visited the dealership and allowed Mr. ***** to run my credit as part of a vehicle purchase. I ultimately decided not to move forward due to a dealer markup and informed Mr. ***** that I had located the exact same truck at ***************** without a markup.Shortly after that conversation and before I could complete my transaction at ****** a mysterious buyer called ****** **** claiming interest in the same vehicle. After pressing the sales team, I learned the caller was in fact ***** *****, who had called in an apparent attempt to block or disrupt my purchase.I have video and photo evidence showing that the call came from Mr. ****** phone, including his name and number on ****** ****s incoming call log. This conduct was clearly retaliatory, highly unprofessional, and potentially qualifies as tortious interference with a prospective business transaction. I have submitted a formal complaint to Ken Grody Ford and received a general acknowledgment that the matter is being handled internally, but no apology or remedy has been offered.Desired Resolution:A formal written apology from Ken Grody Ford A meaningful goodwill offer (e.g., discount, service credit) to address the lost opportunity Reassurance that appropriate disciplinary steps have been taken to prevent similar misconduct Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

Dear Mr. *********** you for taking the time to share your concerns regarding your recent interaction with our team at Ken Grody Ford in **********. We sincerely regret that your experience left you feeling disappointed and assure you that we have thoroughly reviewed the events surrounding this matter. We understand that after discussing pricing with our team, you referenced a similar vehicle available at ****** **** without markup. Our salesperson, ***** *****, acted based on guidance from a manager who informed him that ****** was, in fact, applying a markup on the vehicle in question. In an effort to reconcile the conflicting information between your claim and the internal direction he received, Mr. ***** contacted ****** **** directly using his personal cell phone and real name.We want to be clear: the intent of the call was not to interfere with your transaction or undermine your efforts to secure a vehicle elsewhere. Rather, the call was made transparently to validate factual pricing data so that Mr. ***** could either support your statement or understand the situation more clearly. At no point did Mr. ***** attempt to impersonate a buyer, mislead ****** staff, or influence the availability of the vehicle. No follow-up or interference occurred beyond this single inquiry. While we recognize that you perceived this call as retaliatory, we respectfully disagree with that characterization. However, we do acknowledge that the call could have been misinterpreted, and for that, we apologize for any undue stress or inconvenience it may have caused. We are using this situation as a coaching opportunity to reinforce communication standards and ensure that such actions are conductedif necessaryin coordination with leadership and with absolute clarity of purpose.I would never share our employees' disciplinary actions with any guest. The employee has a right to privacy, and I hope you want/expect the same from your employer/company. In the spirit of goodwill, we would be happy to offer you a credit toward future service at Ken Grody Ford, should you choose to allow us the opportunity to earn your trust back. We respect your vehicle purchasing decision, whether with us or another dealership, and remain available should your needs change in the future.Thank you again for your feedback. We are committed to learning from every customer interaction and improving wherever possible.Sincerely,*** ****** General Sales Manager Ken Grody Ford **********

BUYER BEWARE. Evidently this dealership does not do a thorough inspection of their used vehicles. I'm highly disappointed in my experience purchasing from them and will never do it again. I bought a 2017 Jeep Wrangler with about ****** miles on it almost a year ago. Starting within six months of owning the vehicle, I've had a string of repairs costing me upward of $5,000. Now, almost a year from the purchase date, the vehicle needs a new engine quoted at over $12,000. Within one year of purchase this vehicle needs $17,000 worth of work, which is just absurd to me. I've bought many used cars in my life and have never experienced this. When I went to discuss this with them they essentially told me that this is just the risk you take when you buy a used vehicle and that they wouldn't help me in any way other than to offer me nearly nothing on a trade-in so they could make another sale to me. Avoid these guys at all costs.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We sincerely apologize for the issues you've encountered with your 2017 Jeep Wrangler. We understand how frustrating it can be to face unexpected repairs, and we regret that your experience did not meet your expectations.
We do inspect the vehicles and provide them to meet the stringent California standards.  I don't know what mileage you experienced issues, or if you purchased an extended service agreement to act as a fail safe for a high mileage vehicle.  Typically, if you can show a jeep dealer that you have maintenance records showing you have properly maintained the vehicle, they can offer assistance.   I don't know who you spoke to at our dealership, but we are here to discuss your situation.

Hello,Thank you for the message. I bought the vehicle with somewhere around ****** miles and it started having these issues within around ***** miles after that. Though I recognize this is not a new vehicle, I would not consider ****** high mileage necessitating a warranty. I expected that a dealership like *** Grody would sell me a good car not needing repairs of this magnitude in less than twelve months. I understand standard maintenance costs that come with buying a used car, but for your manager to tell me that "this is just the risk you take when buying used cars" suggesting that it is somehow normal to possibly have $10,000+ in repairs in the first year is crazy. No reasonable person expects this.I do not remember the name of the man I talked to. I remember him being a manager of new car sales and he had moved down here from a dealership in ****************.

I ASKED HIM IF HE'S REALLY SURE IT'S DONE AND SAID, "YES". THAT SAME DAY, AROUND 3:30 PM, I PAID MY BILL, PICKED UP MY ***, DROVE IT TO CAR WASH AND TO THE GARAGE. AT AROUND 4:00 PM, ON MY WAY TO PICKUP MY PASSENGER, IT START OVER HEATING AGAIN. SO I CALLED ************ AND ASK WHY MY TRANSIT IS STILL OVERHEATING, AND ************ SAID TO BRING BACK THE **** I SAID "NO"! I DON'T TRUST *** GRODY SERVICE DEPARTMENT ANYMORE! THEN ************ SAID, "HOW ARE WE GOING TO FIX IT IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO GIVE US A CHANCE?" I SAID," I LEFT IT THERE FOR 10 DAYS AND LOST SO MUCH MONEY, NO WAY". I am not satisfied with *** Grody **********. I'm satisfied with **** vehicles, but not from your dealership. I leased/purchased vehicles for the last 10 years from your location and placed a large down payment every transaction. I finally realized that other dealerships do not require down payment for the same monthly payment and upgraded vehicle. I will NEVER deal with *** Grody **********. The managers DO NOT care about the customers, only the deals. It's unfortunate that ********** reps work there and have no idea how terrible the service is. I was presented a deal with $5000 or $10000 down payment for a leased Expedition XLT, for close to $1200 monthly payment. I just leased a Limited Expedition for the same amount with no down payment. Need I say more? I give zero stars to this dealership but that's not an option, so they get one star. That's being generous. Thank you

On 11/7/23 9:20am left car at Ken Grody Ford ******** service department because check engine light had came on the prior day, a technician read the *** code with his reader as P1450 fault, which they said they would have to figure out what part needed replacing in the fuel system. they called at 10am, forty minutes later and told me it was a fuel purge valve and "you're lucky, we have one in stock" and that it would cost eight fifty, I assumed this was the price of the part and gave them permission to replace the valve. I picked the car up at 11:19 same day.My complaint is that they charged me $858.43 parts and labor for less than two hours work, my complaint is the $630.00 labor charge. After three unanswered phone calls to the service manager and a day later, the service writer called and told me I was such a good customer they would take $210.00 off my bill, I countered and we settled with removing $260.00. This dealer is a AAA approved repair facility, which has nothing to do with what the business charges their customers, charging $315.00 an hour for an auto mechanic is exorbitant.

I've never had a dealership lie to me as much as this one. 1) "We just got this truck in yesterday". It's been sitting on your lot for at least 6 weeks when we first started shopping around. 2) "You can't drive the truck because it's locked away in our service department warehouse." It was actually stored in an open dirt lot with no security. 3) "This truck is very rare and hard to find." They had 6 of them on the lot. 4) "The color is extremely rare and you're not going to find one like this very often." They had 2 on them on the lot and the **** website showed 14 of them within a 100 mile radius. They put the window sticker price on the internet for $85K, leaving out the $15K markup and the performance package sticker for $20K. We're seeing a price tag for $85K and walked in to a $122K asking price. Just do your homework- there are honest dealerships out there that will work with you but this dealership isn't one of them.
