Attempted to make a payment on an up to date account and was told could not make a payment or I would be charged twice. Called today to clarify issue and ask to not be charged twice in the same month for a past due amount and staff took an aggressive tone in stating call was being recorded. Jokingly clarified to staff that I was also recording the call when I was not. Staff said manger told him to hang up and a payment was thus not able to be made. Requested to pay online by setting up an online payment account and was denied that due to delinquency. To my understanding, consumers have a right to pay their debt however they feel is appropriate. Conflicting information is given by staff and in the past, a female staff has also refused payment and made threats as to the repercussions of not paying past due amount. Do not wish to have further contact with staff at either my work place, home, or by phone. I am requesting mail correspondence only with the right to pay by mail or online account.

The customer has two separate bond accounts with ********************** and had previously set up recurring payment plans for each account. As such, she is not being "charged twice" for one account. Online payment portal access is permitted for accounts that are in a current status (not in delinquency). Due to delinquencies on the accounts, the customer may either mail in payment or make payment by telephone by contacting Aladdin's ****************** Department.  Aladdin has previously accommodated the customer by lowering the monthly payment amount. Per the customer's request, ********************** will no longer attempt to contact the customer by telephone. The customer will continue to receive statements in the mail as appropriate.

The complainant visited Aladdin's office on August 27, 2024 to act as a ********* for a bail bond for her grandson, who was in custody with bail set at $175,000. She was present with another *********,identified as the defendant's brother. The bail agent thoroughly explained the cost of the bail bond, and the co-signors understood the terms of the payment plan they negotiated. The bail agent provided the contract documents to the co-signors, explained the nature of the documents, and the co-signors voluntarily signed each of the documents. At no point in time did the complainant tell the bail agent that she could not read or understand the documents or the transaction, or otherwise indicate she was blind, nor did she request the agent or the other ********* to read the documents to her. As such, Aladdin adamantly denies any fraud or wrongdoing in connection with the transaction. It was very straightforward and the co-signors willingly entered into the transaction.

The bail agent made copies of all documents and provided each ********* an Aladdin branded folder containing copies of the documents. Aladdin is happy to provide additional copies of the documents to the complainant. Based upon the co-signors' agreement to pay the bail bond premium and act as co-signors to the transaction, Aladdin issued the bail bond and secured the release of the complainant's grandson from custody. There remains a balance on the account for unpaid bail bond premium (the cost of the bail bond). All parties on the account, including the defendant and co-signors,are responsible for satisfying the obligation. Aladdin remains willing to work with all parties to resolve the account and invites the complainant to contact Aladdin to further discuss the matter.

The customer never told the agent she was blind or that she couldn't read the contract.  The customer never requested that the agent read the contract to her. She visited the office and signed the documents without issue. The foregoing notwithstanding, Aladdin will focus its efforts on collecting the balance due from the defendant and other co-signer.

So I was working with them they are very unprofessional. They're constantly telling you one thing then telling you another. The one agent I was working with when we finally were able to get him out I was $365 short of the money I had met up with her at the ************* jail to pay her the 435 cash that I had trying to see if there was a way we could pay the $365 that following morning when I could talk to my bank because my bank would only allow me to spend so much in it one day which The total amount owed was over that so I paid them $2,200 in in debit card transactions and out of the 800 I have 435 she said she couldn't do a single thing unless I had the rest of the $800 so I told her to hold on to the 435 cuz I was on the phone with a friend and told her I'd be right back cuz he was sending me the money but for some reason the cash app kept canceling the payment because they said for our protection and it took a little bit longer and so she took off the following morning her manager calls and says that we still need the $800 to be able to get him out of jail when in fact I had given her the 435 cash when I seen her to get him out at 11:50 at night the night before. They did not handle the situation properly or even in my words at all The whole entire Aladdin's company continue to lie to me telling me different things and they did not file the For the refund for almost a week after that I don't know what took him so long it shouldn't have been that difficult because they said they started the refund but didn't finish it. One of the managers that I talked to at the Aladdin Bail Bonds not the ******* department but one of the other ones she was telling me there was no way for me to get a hold of accounting because accounting had no phone when I asked for the corporate phone number was she provided me with accounting was one of the options and when I talked to accounting they told me they had just received the refund that day which was a week later.

Aladdin undertook good faith efforts to negotiate a bail transaction at the request of the customer. The negotiation ultimately resulted in an agreement that the customer pay a $3,000 ($2200 via credit card and $800 via cash) down payment to consummate the transaction. The customer paid $2200 via credit/debit card.

At the customer's request, **********************'s agent agreed to meet her at the detention facility where she was to deliver the remaining $800 in cash. When the agent arrived, however, the customer did not have the $800 as promised. The customer then offered to pay $435. The agent explained to the customer that she was not authorized to accept less and, as a result, the transaction could not move forward. The agent adamantly maintains that at no time did the customer provide, nor did the agent accept, $435 in cash.

Because the customer was unable to make the full $3,000 payment, the transaction did not move forward.  Aladdin therefore refunded the $2200 payment to the customer's credit/debit card.

In light of the foregoing, Aladdin maintains that its agents acted lawfully and in good faith during the course of the negotiation and denies any wrongdoing whatsoever.

I reached out to Aladdin bail bond for services and was decieved , lied to and tricked into signing documents for a payment plan that I was never aware of until after that night. I have 3 other people who can confirm this because the conversation was on 3way calls. The conversations we /I was told something completely different from what happened. She told me and my friends $4200 was needed to bail out. It was repeated several times. The $4200 was supposed to be spilt between 2 cards and not once did the bail bonds lady specify anything else was happening and she had me sign documents that were for a payment plan. I was not able to look the documents over properly as the agent pointed to signature like while talking and stating what supposedly I was signing and quickly flipped each page. Not once during that did she tell me I was committing to any payment arrangement. She in fact reiterated that $4200 was paid over two cards. She come to find out only charged $800 on the cards. And tied me into a payment plan without even telling me.

To Whom It May ******************* customer was in ******************* custody with bail set at $50,000.  In exchange for the customer and co-signer's agreement to pay a bail bond premium in the amount of $5,015 (representing 10% of the bond penal sum plus a $15 bond fee in accordance with Aladdin's rates filed with the ********************* of Insurance), Aladdin posted a bail bond and secured the customer's release from custody.

The customer and co-signer signed a very clear and unambiguous written agreement to pay the premium in installments, which included a down payment of $1,015 (paid on 04/21/2024), one additional down payment of $500 (paid on 05/02/2024), seventeen monthly payments of $200 beginning on 06/02/2024, and one final payment of $100 on 11/02/2025.  As of today's date, a balance of $3,500 remains pursuant to the premium installment payment agreement. Notably, there are no fees or interest charged in connection with the payment plan, and the customer or co-signer are free to pay the balance in full via credit card (or cash) if that is now their preference.

The foregoing notwithstanding, the customer signed all contract documents, and initialed next to the very clear payment schedule.  The contract documents contain the entire agreement of the parties, and Aladdin has fully performed its obligations under the agreements. As such, Aladdin respectfully rejects the desired settlement and underlying allegations.

My response to statement from Aladdin Bail Bonds:

I was told by the bail agent at your office DIRECTLY per our multiple phone conversations misguided information for information pertaining to bailing out of jail. When I initially called Aladdin bail bonds I ASKED DIRECTLY if Aladdin could set up a payment arrangement with me. Her direct response was that Aladdin did not do that anymore. Each call on 3way with both friends of mine,  one was the person who used his credit cards to make payment, they were told the exact information I was. No Payment plan was told to us. The person who paid and used his credit card to put the supposed 10% on to bail me out, never received any documentation . There are no state mandated documents making it clear what the obligations were . When you enter any agreement with a bail bond company you enter a consumer credit loan contract which would mean your protected then by the California consumer protection law that mandates a creditor provide notice to make it clear to any party involved what they would be liable for technically if they begin any contract or form of debt. So of that is the case why wasnt the co-signer given those documents at all??
Also, the documents I was given to sign and initial by the agent at Aladdin was not given to me to look over or read. The bail agent did not give me any chance to look over anything she just put the document down on the table , pointed directly to where I needed to sign and initial and flipped to the next page repeating the same thing. She told me exactly what she stated during the calls with the amount going onto the credit card NEVER SPECIFYING ANY PAYMENT ARRANGEMENT AT ALL.  she held the arm over the document pointing to each line when I needed to sign or initial blocking the document from view. Im sure the Aladdin bail bonds had surveillance to go back and verify what Im saying.
Not to mention, I told the agent I am a full time student in college and not employed and couldnt make payments which is why initially I asked if payment arrangements are how Aladdin bail bonds set up bail payments for the fact I would not be able to make monthly payments which is why again my co-signer who was told the same exact thing by the agent o was , that he wanted to split the 10% bond amount between two credit cards he had . So regardless of what the paperwork states that was signed by myself under the misguided and untrue facts of what we were told by the bail bonds agent at Aladdin and who had us sign documents that at the time were not what we were being told they were by your bail agent nor were given the opportunity to read before signing. How does this make any  of this legal and ethical business practices?
Not to mention Aladdin has history of doing this to other customers based off of court documents and public information. Is this the type of business you are running and purposely deceiving people in moments when theyre seeking help? There is no way to resolve this matter being it wasnt done appropriately or truthfully?

      Business Response

      Date: 06/11/2024

To Whom It May ******************* Aladdin agent discussed the cost of the bail bond with the customer and her co-signer ($5,015 per **********************'s filed rate).  They also discussed the down payment that would be made by the co-signer toward the bail bond ($1,015), leaving a balance due in the amount of $4,000.  The customer and her co-signer were provided with all state required disclosures, which set forth very clear and unambiguous terms as to how that $4,000 would be paid. They signed and initialed in multiple places acknowledging these terms, even directly on the disclosures, of which they both received copies. They made the initial down payment, and then made the next scheduled payment according to the plan. The timing of this complaint is curious, and the allegation that Aladdin did not provide disclosures or that it somehow tricked them into paying for the bail bond in installments is wholly without merit.

I want to file a complaint due to when I signed the contract agreement was to get a family member out of jail the family member that was incarcerated had indeed got out of jail the agreement was for the family members should be responsible for the rest of the payments if not showing up to court. By state law if the defendant does not show up to court and by all means the bill is owed.. but in our case family member called his probation officer and went ahead and turned himself in before court for being dirty on a drug test therefore the family member was incarcerated while Court was going on you barely should have been forfeited and we should have not over anything another problem I did not have no contract with the collector who is trying to collect from me.when Ive never heard of them.I want this off of my credit report immediately will take further action on this company.

We are unable to locate the bond referred to in this complaint without more detailed information.  It would be helpful to have the defendants name and date the bond was issued, or the bond number that was assigned at the time the bond was issued.

We are happy to assist the customer with their concerns as soon as we can locate the correct file.

The customer entered into a lawful contract to act as a cosigner in connection with the bail transaction for the defendant.  As a result of her failure to make payments pursuant to that contract, the account has been transferred to a third-party collection agency.  The customer is advised to contact the collection agency to discuss her options to resolve the matter.

Two Jinn, **** does business under the trade name "Aladdin Bail Bonds"("Aladdin").  In order to induce Aladdin to issue a bail bond to secure the pre-trial release of this customer (who was in custody with bail set at $20,000), the customer agreed to, among other things, check in to Aladdin's office to sign routine paperwork as part of the transaction and pay the bail bond premium (i.e., the cost of the bond).  Following her receipt of the full benefits of the bail bond, the customer nevertheless refused to check in and sign the documents as agreed upon.  The law in ********** does not entitle the customer to retain the full benefits of **********************'s performance while rejecting any obligation for it.  As such, Aladdin maintains that it is lawfully entitled to pursue the customer for payment of the bond she caused it to issue to the court.
