      My wife is physically handicapped and had been prescribed a power chair with specific features due to her specific needs. Access Medical sent a ************** chair to our home in late September 2022 or early October 2022. This is the 2nd power chair that this company has provided to my wife during the last 6 years. The chair that was delivered was not specifically measured to meet my wifes needs, as was the chair delivered in the Spring of 2017. As time has passed, we have come to find that the chair we received is a lemon. We have had numerous service calls and the directional control issues cannot be fixed according to what I was told by a properly trained service technician. The 4-way control module had to be replaced already once and similar problems were starting to arise from the replacement module. What I have learned is the directional control issue is pervasive throughout the Permobil line. Access Medical made the decision as to which manufacturer would be used to fill the prescription. Access Medical was paid more than $ ****** for this chair. We have waited patiently for 6 months for Access Medical in the Imperial Valley to resolve this issue. What we have gotten is nothing more than empty promises and a faulty piece of equipment. Access Medical have provided us with a loaner chair from Permobil and it has the same exact lack of functioning issues. I have learned that we are not the only people who are having issues with their Permobil chairs. It is obvious to me that Permobil is sending out into the marketplace, power chairs which have sufficient problems, but because the profit motive is more important, continues to create handicaps for those who are handicapped. The new chair they will be sending must be a fit for my wife and be a reliable functioning chair with the specific features to meet HER needs. I must be able to test any potential replacement chair prior to it or the like, being dropped off at our home.
