My wife and I were married at Jug Handle Creek Farm, a non-profit organization and venue, on May 29, 2022. We worked with the organization's Executive Director **** to come up with mutually agreed upon cost to rent the venue for the weekend. We paid for the venue in two installments. We received an initial invoice and paid the first installment well before the wedding. We received a second invoice a couple of weeks before the wedding that did not reflect our mutually agreed upon cost, but in the chaos that comes before a wedding, we did not look closely enough at the invoice and mistakenly overpaid the organization $892.33. We reached out to the ** immediately after realizing we had overpaid and she agreed to refund the money and sent us a follow-up invoice in acknowledgement of the overcharge. The organization never ended up refunding our money and even charged our credit card an additional $33.67 after our wedding, totaling $925 in unsanctioned charges. The organization's reasons for not refunding our money were detailed in an updated invoice that was sent to us after our wedding. The details of these additional charges were riddled with false claims and inaccurate information that seemed to be made up simply to justify the inflated cost. We reached out to the organizations ***** of ********* to resolve the dispute, recognizing that the organizations ** was no longer acting in good faith. The ***** of ********* merely forwarded our email to the ** who stood by the false claims. We had several email exchanges with the ** requesting any evidence of the claims stipulated in the invoice, which were never provided. The ** eventually stopped responding to our emails and has yet to reimburse us for the amount we mistakenly overpaid, with the exception of a $25 refund on July 16, 2022.
