      10/14/2022: I unplugged my old printer, which worked but was leaking ink, and attached a new Epson printer to my computer...BUT I couldn't get it to print, so I tried calling Epson support, but couldn't get through. I tried more than once, and then went online to see if I was calling the direct number, and saw an Epson support number and called it. "******" picked up immediately and heard my issue, and said he would take a look it. At first I thought I was speaking to Epson. I was confused about who I was speaking to, and he said he worked for a company that worked with many tech companies. He asked permission for access to my computer, and I granted it, all the time thinking this was sanctioned by Epson support. Then he said that printer issues were covered with no charge, but computer problems were not. He said it would cost $199 to fix the "communication" on my computer, and I would have to pay first! I was shocked, and argued, and knew this sounded shady. I asked if I could send a check, but no, had to use a credit card. And I thought this was all Epson's rules! I let him access my computer. He spent more that 30 minutes and finally got the printer working. Later I called my daughter and she started yelling at me, "You were scammed!" and I told her it all did sound wrong, so I emailed Epson and told them the story. They wrote back that they NEVER charge for technical support, and sent me several pages of instructions of how to connect the printer so it would "communicate". Next day I took some advice and Googled the company name on the invoice ****** had emailed to me; "Annansys" and "scam" came up with several stories just like mine...other people who thought they were getting good advice regarding Epson's rules. So I paid $199.99 for "help" that Epson gives for free. Yes, I was scammed. I'm 77 and feel like a fool for getting involved in this, and I've learned to be more cautious.
