I joined UFC last year in a month to month membership that was discounted since I also signed up for personal training, which was paid up front. As it turned out my work schedule changed and I was unable to utilize most of my personal training, which is fine, that's my problem. But I then tried to cancel my membership since I can't get in on a regular basis, so I hand wrote a cancellation letter and signed it and dropped it off at the gym on 6/26/2024. A couple days later I was told by an employee that I could not cancel my membership this way, instead the gym had to send me a link and I had email them my cancellation. I then sent an email on July 7, 2024 cancelling my membership and explaining I had originally cancelled on 6/26/24. I was then informed by the manager ************, that they would be happy to cancel my membership but since they are "on a 26 day billing cycle" I had to pay one more month in order to cancel. I have not walked into this gym in over 6 months and forfeited $1800 worth of personal training so there is no way I'm going to give them yet another $69 payment when I canceled before the end of the month. I have asked the manager to waive this payment under the circumstances described above and he has ignored my emails since that time.

In late January of 2024, I had a situation with the franchise that made me want to cancel my membership. I was on the phone with management, and was told that I had to go in person. However, I live far away and work even farther. Then I asked if I can do the process online, and was told that they can't even process payments online. They have business model that feel predatory. Now They are demanding that I pay for "my last month of membership," despite the fact that I paid first and last month when it was opened. The story I was given is that the payment covering last month essentially gives someone up to 2 months before it expires. That defeats the purpose of paying last month in advance. All I want is for the membership to be cancelled, for the billing calls to stop coming in, and for them to use whatever I paid in advance to cover the last month. I am not interested in ever going back, so I don't understand the need to pay an additional month. To me, it feels like a bait and switch. They put hoops in place so that people are locked in.

UFC offered a discounted membership and training package which could be canceled and refunded w/in 5 business days. I followed the requirements for cancellation, but UFC has not refunded me:3/13: I had signed up for the 7-day free trial UFC offers on their site. The trainer/salesperson who introduced me to the gym told me about the promotional offer for people who have never been into the gym before (which I had not): membership at a reduced rate/no enrollment fee, and 4 discounted training sessions. He assured me I could cancel before midnight on the 5th business day (Friday) and get both refunded. The agreement I signed also says I can cancel by the 5th business day. I explicitly asked so if I cancel the membership then the training will also be canceled and refunded? and he said Yes with confidence.3/15: I emailed manager ********************************* to cancel, referencing the assurance his staff had given that both could be canceled/refunded. Emailing ****** is one of the acceptable means of cancellation per the membership agreement.3/17: I went in person and found the man who had sold me the promotional offer. He assured me that ****** had received my email, that everything was fine and the refunds would be processed (I had specifically asked him about my refunds (plural)).3/22: I emailed ***** again asking for both refunds. Both times I emailed him by replying to the confirmation emails from UFC, first to the membership email and then to the training emailso there could be no confusion over who I was or what offers I was canceling.3/29: I called UFC and asked for *****. The person who answered said he was unavailable, so I left a message with her asking to let him know that if he didn't process my refunds by the next day I would dispute the charges with my credit card and file a complaint with BBB. She said she would pass on that message. I then emailed him with that same message, giving him until mid-day the next day.4/2: Still no refund or response from him.
