03/14/2023 I was transported by NorCal ambulance to a mental hospital from *********, ** to **********, **. A 2 hour drive. This was involuntary and I was forced this service I did not choose. My insurance has paid $10,200.00 They are asking me for another$3,000.00. For a total of ********* for a 2 hour drive. That is an extremely excessive charge. I have already contacted them with my inability to pay, and they were not helpful. I have 20 other claims from the emergency room and a week in the mental hospital. As well as missing work and Im about to lose my job. I have zero ability to pay. I have a mental illness and my husband left and I am on disability right now, soon to be homeless. I would say a payment from insurance for ****** dollars is quite sufficient for a 2 hour drive. I am asking for the balance to be excused. I have no funds to pay.

In August of 2022 my son was born at ***************** Health in ************. He had to be transported to ******* ******************* within 2 hours after his birth due to complications. The transport was less than 30 miles. NorCal is attempting to charge more than $12,000 for transport and after my insurance company paid them their contracted rate, NorCal has been harassing me for the difference saying they are out-of-network and I am responsible for the balance, I was not given any choice of transport services, no one presented me with an estimate or indicated that the service was out of network. NorCal is preying upon families with sick babies to charge unreasonable fees for very little work and overhead and harasses families who are trying to care for their NICU babies. This is ridiculous and needs to be stopped. Families need protection from this kind of medical waste and billing fraud.

This is a complaint not against the EMTs but billing practices. I was transported from ************** ***************** to *********** SNF in ************, 20 minute ride, 14 miles away. Upon arrival to *********** EMTs noticed they forgot my ******, by mistake left it next to the location where the ambulance was parked. Both myself and *********** were told that someone would return the ****** later that day. Never received it, ever Fast forward, despite charging ******** almost $4000 for the trip, there was a balance of $235.00 that they demanded and harassed that I pay. I was told by hospital administrator that all charges would be covered under ******** and I asked numerous times to confirmed that I would not be liable for any charges. Talking to billing about the issue, they said "we don't have a record of that", they sent the balance to collections. I had to borrow a ****** for my release from the **** Basically they don't give a ****, what a scam.
