Carini home services installed mini-split units in my home (individual air conditioning/heating units that are fed by a compressor). The compressor stopped working so I called them out for service and they discovered a leak in the bottom 1/4" line where the refrigerant escaped. The technician noted "Bolt is completely cross-threaded, can't even take it off." Carini has a "Lifetime Craftsmanship Guarantee" and a manufacturers warranty for the equipment. Their guarantee states" We're so confident in the quality of our craftsmanship that we guaranteed our work for as long as you own your home. If Carini didn't install something correctly, we'll cover it.". They've offered to cover the cost of the parts but want me to pay $2,200 in labor charges to refill and pressure test the system. They're claiming because I didn't have a maintenance agreement with them, in which they would cover the parts AND labor, they're only covering the parts. I'm argument is that irrespective of the maintenance agreement, the compressor/ 1/4" line wasn't installed correctly. Either the bolt that was cross-threaded was part of defective equipment that was installed (covered under the equipment warranty) or they cross-threaded the bolt when they installed it (most likely scenario). I've called several times to speak with someone who can explain the situation and hear my case but they keep telling me it's not covered under warranty and want me to pay the $2,200 to get it fixed. It's been ************************************************************************************* - I'm leading the conversation. I'm looking for Carini Home Services to fix the bolt and cover all part and labor costs in accordance with their lifetime craftsmanship guarantee because it was a result of incorrect installation. Nobody - not myself, not Carini, not another vendor touched the equipment since it was installed by Carini so they are culpable.

Had Carini Heating **************************** come out and quote us to replace electric panel and all outlets and switches. Signed the quote returned it with the deposit. We scheduled the work for Monday the 18th of Dec. two men showed up to do the work. When they showed up at the door, they said we are here to do the panel correct. I said the panel and all the switches and outlets. They then proceeded to tell me that there was a problem, they said the person that originally had done the quote had been fired, and that they had been quoting the wrong amount. They then discussed that it would be double or more to complete the job. We said we have assigned contract that tells the scope of work and how much is going to be. The work had been scheduled on 12/13,. They had plenty of time to call us prior to the day of install to let us know that there was a problem. They should have stood by their word and done the work for what they quoted us I've never heard of any kind of sham as this, they called their superior and the manager told them that they were not going to stand by the quote. This is outrageous. I think it is called bait and switch.

If the customer could provide this "assigned contract" we would honor it but there is no contract, there is no signature, so technically, there is no violation.  If you can provide a "signed contract" otherwise it's just a mistake.  There can't be a *************** if there's no agreement of work.

We Had Carini **************************** Conditioning Install a new Compressor unit 5-ton. They did everything wrong! Really Poor workmanship! The furnace they installed was the wrong size 4-ton. They do not work right together! House is still (HOT) after 2 years! They Broke a gas line at the meter and left it leaking call SDG&E to fix it and damaged all the ductwork and I spent two days replacing the ductwork myself. I had other contactors come out to try and fix it NO LUCK the furnace is the WRONG SIZE and has to be replaced with a new furnace 5-ton to match. Carini said the furnace is the right size and unwilling to do anything to fix it. House is HOT! and so is my ********* I would NOT recommend these people to anyone. Cost me a lot of money and put me through h*** & back. I am a senior with a heart condition. SAD!

Last summer we hired Carini to add an air conditioner to a furnace they had installed the prior year. The install was a comedy of errors:1. They installed the system, but did not properly connect ducting to the distribution box, we spent a month sweltering, while cooling our crawlspace and running up an immense power bill.2. They returned and reconnected the system, but the house would not cool down.3. They then told us the fix was to replace all ducting, which we did at considerable expense. This did not fix the problem.4. They came out again and tried to balance the air flow, but did not resolve anything.5. Eventually they found they had set the unit to run the fan at minimum speed, so no air flow was reaching the house.once they increased the fan pan speed, the noise started cooling.6. Even after all of these fixes, the system is barely able to keep up on warm days. On top of their other mistakes, they likely undersized the system. Each failed fix involved multiple days of waiting. I was told they were prioritizing new clients over repairing my botched install because they had made appointments with the new clients, and didnt want to reschedule. This past week the unit shut down due to the condensate sump not draining. They could not come out for a few days, so I had another HVAC contractor flush the line to get the system working.Carini sent a technician for our scheduled maintenance service. I shared that we had remedied the sump issue, and he didnt need to take action on that step of the service.Today Carini called to tell me they would void my warranty if I hired another HVAC contractor to work on the system.I would recommend against others using this company. They seem to not know what they are doing in terms of sizing and installing systems, and clearly are not interested in supporting their customers or providing prompt, effective service.

      Customer,

First off, I would like to apologize for the inconveniences you may have experienced.  Honestly, I'm a bit shocked at your complaint.  I'm not saying your response is incorrect, I'm surprised about the situation because that not how we do business.  I will personally investigate the situation and find out what we could have done differently in the future.  There are always 3 sides to a story and I don't want to minimize your perspective, I just want to find out the specifics and maybe there is more to the story than I know.  In the meantime I will continue to honor your warranty.  If you take a look at 98% of our reviews, you can see we have a very good reputation.  We wouldn't have that reputation if we didn't know "what we are doing in terms of sizing and installing systems".  We do however make mistakes; we are human, and we error.  The difference between us and the other guys is, we have integrity and if we made a mistake, we do what we can to rectify it.  Thank you for bringing this to my attention, next time just call the office and ask to speak with management.  Thank you for your understanding.

Date of transaction Feb. 9, 2023. Hired Carini to install new wall furnaces. Was told that our baseboards would not have to be cut. The employees who came and did the job however did cut the baseboards and made them crooked. Now they look terrible and it was clearly unnecessary for them to be cut at all. And they did not install the hardware needed to keep the furnace covers on... so they came off.

I'm so sorry to hear about the poor experience you had with Carini.  I looked in your file and saw that these complaints had been addressed and everything was closed. Can we agree that this complaint has been addressed so we can close this claim as well?

We paid carini heating and air to install a heat pump system. We have no issue paying the $12K for the system. We were never informed that the system would blow cold air at times when heating the house. The system routinely blows cold air after hot air when it is being used for heating (it does heating and then does cold). Carini said the problem needed to be addressed by increasing the suction capacity of the system. We paid an additional $2000 to have that addressed. It still blows cold air after blowing hot air. We had carini come out again and they said "that is how a heat pump works". At a minimum, carini failed to disclose facts about the system and charged us $2000 for a fix that wasn't a fix. WE WERE LED TO BELIEVE THAT THE SYSTEM WOULD BE DAMAGED IF WE DIDN'T PROVIDE THE EXTRA SUCTION CAPACITY
