I called the company on 8/20/2024 and the tech ***** came on 8/21/2024 to my property to replace the springs. I was quoted $475 for both springs on YELP. As I got the estimate, ***** told me $475 plus tax it turned out to be $515.38. I said it was fine. As he finished the job and I received the invoice two hours later. The invoice only listed contracted price $515.38. As I called the office to inquire the price breakdown. She said they need to add 8.5% travel fee. I told her I wasnt aware and it is not on the paper. Plus I was told the additional was for tax. I am requesting $40.38 credit back.Business Response

We called Local Garage Doors to assist with a residential overhead door. The doors were installed in 2016. The technician said he adjusted a clamp on the upper gear. He opened the door without resetting the limits and bent the gear and upper rod. He apologized and said the door could no long be adjusted or corrected. He said he would contact his boss and correct the problem. We received an invoice from Local Garage Doors for $1095 to install a new garage door opener. When I contacted the manager, *******, she informed me that the technician said the door motor was ***** years old and could not be fixed. This was not the information the technician provided, nor is the information correct as the garage door was installed new in 2016. They offered no further assistance other than installing a new opener. There are two doors on the building. Installing a new motor meant two different door openers and two different remote controls. We contacted the manufacturer of the original opener (the one Local Garage Door damaged) and verified the original installation date. They sent a technician who confirmed the upper gear and gear rod were bent. The more was fully operational. The damage could not be repaired and a new opener was required. The cost for that installation was $2528.00. We are seeking reimbursement from Local Garage Doors for at least half the amount of the new installation. The technician and manager were both untruthful.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: the technician opened the door without adjusting the limits. This resulted in a bent upper tie rod and gear making the door mechanism inoperative. The technician admitted to the fault at the time of the incident. The technician and manager both told me directly the following week that the motor was ***** years old and this was the reason for the problem. The opener was installed new in 2016. If the technician and manager were upfront and truthful and apologized for the issue we wouldnt have pursued the BBB. We had to replace the opener and are seeking assistance in the cost for that replacement. Local garage doors is at fault for damaging the original unit.Business Response

We had a new garage door opener installed by this company. At the time of installation, our installer told us that the sensors were up to city code, and of course we believed him since he does this for a living. We later got a home inspection done and we were told it actually does not meet standards. I called Local Garage Doors and was told they would get a tech out right away. They did come, but the guy said since we're outside of our ******************************** $100. I told him this wasn't a warranty issue because the guy installed it incorrectly to begin with and gave us incorrect information. He told me I could take it up with his manager. So I called again, and the manager was extremely rude and kept cutting me off when I was talking. This is a very big safety concern for small children and could have resulted in DEATH in the worst case, so this is very serious. They're refusing to fix it. I would recommend looking into different companies that are honest and won't install your garage door openers incorrectly.Business Response
