On May 18th, 2024, my wife and I entered the *********, **. store to get her one year old phone repaired (free sim card change). The lead sales attendant at the store (****** *.) told us that we were both eligible for free phone upgrades, with no updates for our current service or any up-charges to our bill. We asked her if the new phones would 1) change our service plan (5gb/mo.) or 2) increase our bill, and in both cases, we were told "no". The next billing period showed an increase of 132% to our bill ($114.37 to $264.78). When questioned, a Verizon **** told us that the "free" phones were only available with unlimited data, and we were "upgraded". When we tried to return the phones, Verizon told us we could return the phones but couldn't get ours back. After much back and forth and agreements being made, each billing period would be different amount and, after much frustration and lots of phone time, we finally paid $1,900 cash for our free phones and got a different carrier. Seems to me like this qualifies as "bait and switch" FRAUD with unscrupulous sales personnel that get rewarded for FRAUD.

I have been an Verizon Customer cell phone user for a long time. With in the last two years Ive purchased two cell cords to charge my phone. Both cords stopped charging my phones leaving me without ability to keep my phone operational. This is alarming for several reasons. 1. I DO NOT have a landline. 2. I am a retired senior citizen. 3. I have severe health issues which requires that I have phone access 24/7. Unfortunately, I am unable to charge my phone in a timely manner which is quite alarming. At this time I am using my old phone cord from 2years ago to currently charge my home which has been on the charger overnight. At the filing of this complaint it is not fully charged. This is unacceptable. These cords are quite expensive and should last much longer than they do. I must have a reliable cell phone charger that works longer than about a year!!!As mentioned I am a senior on a fixed income. With everything being so costly spending $20 plus dollars on a cell phone necessity is unthinkable. Therefore, I am requesting BBB assistance to favorably resolve this matter expeditiously!Thank you
