    In June 2024, we received a quote for the repair/resurface of our pool from ** as he had been doing our monthly pool maintenance. The original quote was $14,750 on the basis that we pay after each phase. We wanted a pebble-tech like finish and was directed to a more budget friendly option of QuartzScapes to which we agreed. We were told the project would be 4 to 6 weeks. Issues arose almost immediately with the demo timing which lasted months in itself. We saved him $ by using our dumpster for the debris which was supposed to be taken off the price. He underestimated the depth of the pool and needed to buy additional materials but no huge increase to the total price. Electrical issues were next. We asked if we needed to hire someone else to fix those but ** insisted he would do it. He continously said he would cover the costs of the electrical given the extended delays in completing the project. We would go weeks, even months at a time without seeing him. We would contact him to ask when work would continue. His consistent response was, "I'll be there tomorrow." He never showed. Fast forward to February 2025 (8 months from day one of the project) and now he is in a hurry to get it done. He says he had some family issues and now the total price has drastically increased to over $20,000. Everything he said he would do to make it special or pay for did not come to fruition. It seemed as if he was in a cash flow crunch and wanted to see if he could force us to foot the bill. On Monday, February 10, he had a crew come to apply the pool finish. He called and said he would have them leave if we did not pay him $4,000 in the next few minutes. We had come so far and waited so long, we just wanted to get the pool done. We gave him $3,500 that day. The finish did get completed and the pool is now running. However, the pool finish looks absolutely nothing like the QuartzScapes we agreed to as there are no crystal inflections and it is just a dark blue blob. We feel extorted.

    A quick update to the complaint filed this morning against J. R. Pool and Spa. I inadvertently provided the total amount on the third version of the pool contract price. The initial agreed upon price was only $11,500 which included the full start-up of the pool once the repairs/resurface was completed. ** is now requesting I pay another $4,000 for him to complete that service.
