I have file a complaint previously and my complaint # is ********. The first letter I received from this scammer was that there was no balance due. I rebutted that first resolution because they still didn't admit that they owed me for billing me several times and collecting and cashing my checks. When i submitted the several duplicate bills they sent plus the bank statement and the check numbers did they finally admit that they overcharged me and will remit a check to me as soon as possible. To date I haven't received a penny from these scammers. It appears that they target seniors and continually bill them if the hope that the seniors will forget that they previously paid the bills and these scammers will continually deny that there is an overpayment. I have been after these scammers for several months, called several times, wrote letters to their home office with no replies or resolution. Now they finally admit the fact that they owe me money but are taking no action to resolve the issue. Their actions are criminal and I hope the the BBB will take action to resolve this complaint

    Business Response

    Date: 05/01/2023

The Oncology Institute of Hope and Innovation responds to the complaint as follows:

First and foremost, The Oncology Institute's Revenue Cycle Management team expresses an apology to the consumer for being billed in error, and the consumer's requests for assistance not being addressed initially when they were first communicated.

The member received a second statement due to our delay in posting the initial consumer payment.
This caused the system to generate an additional statement that was sent to the consumer in error. The representative the complainant spoke with failed to properly
escalate the issue for resolution. The Oncology Institute had issued a refund to the consumer, but
this payment has not yet been cashed.  A stop payment has been requested
and a new check will be sent to the individual's address on file. This
payment will arrive within 14 business days. We are truly sorry for the inconvenience this has caused the individual and we are reviewing our internal
processes to ensure escalations are properly routed and promptly resolved.
