My daughter has lived in this apartment building for three years. Management provided a parking transponder and placard permit and registered my daughter's car in their records. Yet they called ********************************* to tow her car March 15th instead of notifying her or issuing a written warning (or ticket/citation) when her placard had expired Feb. 25 (although she had duly paid for parking and rent and all fees, and her lease doesn't expire for several months). The towing, storage, and required **** transportation to work cost us $960. I called the **** office and spoke with Dioni or *****. She reiterated the building's policy that you have to have a valid sticker on the car otherwise you are not in compliance with their authorization so that's why they tow. I asked her why they don't give a 96 hour notice to get the sticker updated instead of towing right away, especially since they had knowingly provided a "temporary" placard January 25th which they knew expired Feb. 25th? She said that that's their policy but it's a good suggestion... she'll pass that along. I said I don't think it sounds very fair. I asked her if they care about the tenants at all and if they're that desperate for parking spaces that they have to rush to tow everybody's car right away, when instead they could just be nice and call the car owner since the car has been there for 3 years or whatever, and she said they don't care basically. They have their rules and they're sticking with them. Also I asked her how many students have had their cars towed because these temporary stickers expired. She said she didn't know. But I told her it's a lot of students.I called the towing company, and they said they don't just roam around the parking lot looking for expired stickers and placards; they only tow cars that the office requests towed. The office has my daughter's license plate number on file. It seems as if it would be just as easy for them to call her as to call the towing company.
