Cautionary Review for The Testing Agency The Testing Agency was brought in by MightyDry (a mitigation contractor) to perform asbestos testing at my home following a water damage event. I signed the work authorization assuming the pricing would be fair and in line with market standards, especially since the company came as a trusted referral. Unfortunately, that wasnt the case. The initial invoice came in at $1,622an unexpectedly high charge for testing a small area (just under-sink cabinets and a bit of surrounding wall). I hadn't requested a quote upfront, relying instead on good faith. When I raised concerns, the price was gradually lowered:First to $1,336 Then to $1,036 And finally, after I provided competitor quotes, down to $839 Even the final figure was still significantly above the $540$650 range quoted by other well-established asbestos testing providers.Adding to the concern, they took 12 samplesfar beyond what *** guidelines or industry professionals typically recommend (generally 35 for a small residential area). The volume of samples felt excessive and contributed directly to the inflated cost.Although they responded to emails and made some pricing concessions, each adjustment required persistent effort on my part. Moreover, they warned of a lien escalation just days after the invoice due date, despite ongoing communicationadding unnecessary pressure to an already stressful situation. While their field technician was timely and professional, the billing practices were disappointing. No estimate was shared in advance, and their pricing seemed to rely on the assumption that the homeowner wouldnt question itespecially when recommended through a third-party contractor.Takeaway for others: Dont make the mistake I did. Always request a written estimate before any testing is done, no matter the referral source. Be prepared to push back if charges seem excessive.

This company falsified information to make it appear someone certified and credentialed properly came to my home to take asbestos samples. In an effort to cover up the fact that the technician was not certified, nor was she supervised as a trainee to take the samples, they falsified the report offering a different name, conveniently the owner of the laboratory who ran the samples, as the name of the person who took the samples. When I brought this up, they became extremely defensive and combative and refused to change the falsified report. I'll speculate they refused to change the report because it may cause issues with OSHA. After what felt like dozens of emails back and forth, they finally agreed to change the report to include the actual person who took the samples but then they further falsified the report indicating she did so under the direct supervision of the laboratory owner which they know is also false. They have since refused to correctly asbestos report and USAA appears to be taking action to remove them as a preferred vendor. They also use the *** Preferred Testing.
