Purchased a house. water and electricity was turned off. there were noticeable broken plumbing pipes. purchased house as is. called P.U.D. faxed them buyers closing statement of ************************** and electric was on with in 1 hour. called water district office spoke with ***** and asked him to email me a application to turn on water. he asked the address. I gave him the address and then there was hesitation in his voice. He said he would try to email me an application. At 4:50 in the afternoon I received a email stating that the meter was pulled due to non payment of water bill and there would be a 250. reinstallation fee along with a 200. that would be held for a year and then if there was no late fees the 200. would be applied to the water bill. (I plan to rent this house with in a year and I want my deposit back. I don't want to give the renter my money. ..I do not feel I should pay 250. to reinstall a meter the water depart. chose to take out. They could very easily put a lock on the meter like they use to do in the past. This is a Bill the water depart has created against the previous owner. in email ***** states that he did not have any way to contact the owner nor did he know who the owner was. I have proof they new owner. he also states in a email that the water Department does not have to successfully make contact with a customer to turn the ********************** off.....I have drove past 71 ********* for 60 days watching it as is went up for sale and as soon as the price dropped I made an offer. I drove past the house two times minimum as I have to past it from my Residence. I never saw a notice posted on the residence as the front porch is very visible from the road. I do believe they are required to post a shut off notice. I do not feel I am responsible for a fee from a previous owner. I have paid my ****** deposit and gave the new account application. I would like my water on for health and fire safety. I have supporting documents of lies.
