Issue involves warranty issue for step bars, #****-0125. Bars were purched brand new from CYC Engineering (Raptor Series) online store on 09/12/2016 invoice #******. Item has since been discontinued. First warranty issue arouse when in midyear 2023, nut inserts holding bars to brackets rusted through causing safety issue of becoming loose and potentially coming disconnected from vehicle. Representative form CYC said this would have been a warranty if product was still manufactured, however since it was discontinued best that could be done were replacement insets. This was satisfactory at the time, but substantial time was spent to make step bars safe, usable, and functional. Moving forward to 5/06/2024 when warranty claim was submitted for rust through of actual bar. This time I was informed since item was discontinued another style could be sent for replacement. However shipping would need to be covered per warranty policy. I informed ****** at CYC that since replacements would not be of same style and value that I would like free/reduced shipping or instore credit to source out item better suited for my needs and at that time reminded them of nut insert problem. I then replied that replacement item would not be favorable for the way vehicle is currently configured and I did not care for style either, and was hoping consideration to shipping policy could be made to provide favorable customer satisfaction, due to less than equal price and style. As of date of writing I have not received an further communication from CYC, and am now requesting compensation amount of exact replacement from another manufacturer. But would also consider free shipping of replacement, plus price difference of exact replacement.

*************** purchased part # ****-0125 from our website on 9/12/2016.  When **************** contacted our customer service department on 4/24/2023 to notify us that the nut inserts were rotting through, and since the part should have been under warranty, **************** wanted to get the nutserts replaced.  We did ship him a nutsert kit on 4/26/23 via **** to help with the rotting nutserts he had but he was notified that part # ****-0125 has since been discontinued and if he wanted the entire part replaced, he would have to pay for shipping.  This information was incorrect.  With that said, on 5/5/24, **************** again contacted our CS team stating that the tubes were now rusting.  He was again mistakenly provided incorrect information stating that the part was discontinued, and he would have to pay shipping.  While the part is now discontinued, when he first purchased the part on 9/12/2016, it was not discontinued.  **************** was understandably upset and proceeded to file a complaint with the BBB.

Our **************** Manager reached out to **************** on 5/23/2024 and notified him that we can provide him with an upgraded part, we just needed to find out which part **************** would like.  We sent him Part # ****-0185BT on 5/23/2024 at no charge and did not charge shipping.  This part can be found on our website at raptorseries.com.

We strive to provide excellent customer service in a timely manner, and we did apologize to **************** for any incorrect information he was provided.  He is satisfied with the upgraded part he picked which was shipped May 23, 2024, via FedEx.
We do know these things can happen from time to time and when they do, we are always willing to help.  With that said, the customer was sent an upgraded part to replace the part that had rusting.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 21704612.

I am reluctantly accepting the response for this complaint.  I am satisfied that a replacement was sent free of charge,  it is still of lesser value than original product. And I was only given options of different materials  from original product.

Also company has written comply incorrect information in their response, please see attached screen shots for actual information provided to me in direct emails.

Finally company seems to have waited until last possible day to reply.

In conclusion, I believe the only way i received anything close to a positive outcome was due to a complaint with the BBB

    Sincerely,

I purchased a set of truck nerf bars on **** through Auto Customs LLC. They are manufactured by CYC Engineering, **** ******************************. This was 9/28/2017. The nerf bars have rusted out and are literally falling off of my truck..I have sent them pictures and copy of receipt for a warranty replacement using the 10 year warranty. They are refusing the warranty. Here is the reply I received. Thank you for contacting us at CYC Engineering.Due to clearance products being heavily discounted and limited availability, clearance parts are sold as-is with no warranty or returns. You can read more details about this on our warranty term and conditions page - ************************************************************* I purchased this item in good faith having no knowledge that there was no warranty. It was never disclosed that these were "discounted and limited availability, clearance parts and were being sold as is",I feel that this is deceptive practice on the manufactures part. I would like a full refund. I would not have purchased if I knew they were no under warranty.Thank you, *******************

Purchased Raptor Series 1201-0026MB 6" Straight Oval Step Bars on 5/22/2018. These were advertised with a 10-year warranty. They are now rusting. I began by contacting the retailer (Amazon) who referred me to contacting the manufacturer (Raptor/CYC Engineering). When I contact the manufacturer, they tell me I need to take it up with the retailer. When I contact Amazon, they shuffle me from department to department and essentially ignore me. Neither will honor the warranty that ****** claims to have, and Amazon advertises on their website.
