On May 12th 2024 My Husband and I purchased an As Is Vehicle (2014 Dodge Durango) from the High Desert Auto Auction. They drove the vehicle out of the warehouse and gave bidders the opportunity to ask the driver questions such as what mileage and If there are any issues with the vehicle. The driver advertised the vehicle as having ******* miles so we bid up to $4,500 dollars and won the bid, with an addition $400 processing fee ontop of the bid as well as a $300 dollar deposit and $100 dollar holding fee to keep the vehicle overnight as we did not have cash on hand. We picked up the vehicle monday morning 5/12/2025 and noticed some mechanical issues which we understood we were now responsible for because it is an As-Is Vehicle, we took it to a mechanic shop and they let us know the vehicle actually had some pretty significant issues and we decided to try and re sell the vehicle as is because it would be to great of a loss to invest in the repairs. We consulted websites such as carmax and carvana but upon entering the odometer reading onto carvana it kept saying there was an error so I called the Experian help line and the representative was able to send me a complete copy of the odometer reading report from the date of original ownership. The auction themselves reported the vehicle as being 171k miles and the meter is reading back 111k, clearly the meter had been reversed. Because of this I am unable to register the vehicle as well as resell it.
