1 starI was told to submit my ID and a utility bill to them by email, which I did. Then two days later, I get an email saying I need to physically go to a building with more documents to join. If Im not mistaken, they allow people within LA county to join and drive is a long one from where Im at. So I just told them to delete my application. It isnt worth it.Review fromYuri C

2 starsMy complaint lies with First Entertainment Credit Union (FECU), a bank of which I have been a valued member for almost *************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** April of 2024, I relocated and put over $15,000 into savings for moving costs, only to discover in May 2024 (when I went to rebuild my budget in my new home) that **** had charged an extraordinary amount in overdraft fees. Upon my review of the April statement, I discovered that Id paid nearly $2000 in insufficient funds and overdraft fees. Despite numerous discussions with bank staff, it was communicated to me by FECU staff that while I was enrolled in overdraft protection, their system never actually worked as it should have, and led to over $3,000 in fees ignorantly paid by the end of 2023. I was seeing an inaccurate order of transactions, numerous cases in which fees were charged while having sufficient funds, activated multiple fees in a single day (in one case, I was charged 7 fees for nearly every transaction), and applied fees to transactions still in process. **** admitted to the mistake dating back to March 2023 (and I suspect even earlier than that).Additionally, I was enrolled in an Overdraft Line of Credit with a credit limit of $2500 (with a *****% interest rate), further exacerbating this issue. As of writing, this safety-net loan has resulted in 2 derogatory credit remarks for late payments, and despite depositing $10,325.45 over 18 months is still maxed out - almost entirely from *************** fees automatically withdrawn. Even with significant refunds, I calculated a total of $15,000+ paid towards staying afloat with my accounts. This situation not only flagged me as a banking liability but also impacted his financial standing with major credit bureaus.Thankfully my trial with **** is coming up - and I hope something changes, beyond my specific case.Review fromFaith A

1 starFailing bank, failing bank, FAILED OUR CITY BANK!What a shame, this used to be a stalwart in the Entertainment community in ************Now I'm ashamed to say I've experienced multiple instances of being denied service or fighting to be serviced because I am Black and LGBT, and I sound like it. In person it's worse because I get approached by security when I go in the office not like the white folks. And then they let the white folks who came in after me go first, always. EVERY TIME. Don't be repeating my mistake, and if you care for Black people, step up as a lady with a stroller did for me once, she said clearly, SHE HAS BEEN WAITING. And they weren't even embarrassed.Black people need our own banks.First Entertainment Credit Union

1 starDifficult to access my cash. Opened account 1993!!! The ** closed a large convenient branch in ****************** 4 years ago at least making it necessary to try to use "associated" credit unions in the area from a list First provided. Those **s no longer are affiliated. There's only local ATM at the "crime 7/11" on **********. Cannot feel safe there. Another ATM 3 miles away - only $300 withdrawal limit per day and that ** won't sell quarters. Just discovered First cannot correctly spell the name of the 2nd person on my accounts!!! Last name misspelled. First ** website does not work well on Apple's Safari. How is that not fixable?? **************** can only offer to send me pdf's of my Statements - There's no longer a Download using Safari. What bank should I move all my accounts to? I once wrote to the President of First ** and NEVER HEARD BACK - so much for his public offer to do so.First Entertainment Credit Union

1 starI am currently using this credit union for a car loan. I purchased the car in November of 2022. Over a year later I get a letter from the *** about a bounced check. I never wrote a check to the ***. It hit in August of 2023. Head to the *** to inquire more about what this letter is about. Find out first entertainment requested a duplicate copy of my title without informing me. The *** employee says theyve seen this before and this happens when the credit union messes up the initial title and needs to correct it. No one from first entertainment informed me they were doing this, whatever check First entertainment wrote bounced ON MY BEHALF. So my name and credit is on the line if the charge is not remedied. Seems a lot like fraud. I havent had a horrible experience with anyone at first entertainment at all, but theyre also not exactly apologetic for essentially committing fraud. So now I have to run around town to get a money order (because god forbid the *** allow any payment types from this decade) and wait at the *** to remedy First Entertainment's mess up. Oh but theyve accredited the amount to my account, sans the $5 fee for taking out the money order. Cool.First Entertainment Credit Union

1 starI have been unemployed since January 27, 2023 yet First Entertainment will not waive any of the overdraft fees they charge, even when I borrow money to cover my balance. The app is unreliable and notifications rarely work, if ever. I only ever seem to receive notifications when I log into the app, but never when my balance is low as I have set it up to notify me and the overdraft charges vary in their amount; but considering I am on unemployment and can't even pay my rent, this is beyond the pale of understanding from a credit union. This is a really horrible credit union that is supposed to cater to entertainment professionals, but does not seem to understand the ***************** circumstances we find ourselves in routinely. I have not been unemployed for this long of a stretch in 6 years, but this credit union is merciless in their assistance to members. Extremely disappointed and wish I had not opened an account with them but am now stuck until I get another job. I was told that they work with clients when they are struggling but this has not been my experience at all.Review fromEternanda F

1 starDeposited an Escrow check from a trust fund. Because my account is new they want to put a two week hold on the check. I am in the middle of a crisis and asked if there was a way to verify the check since the money is available and make an exception. The manager, Catherine, not only says she will return my call but doesn't, but she calls the banks main line and didn't have the common sense to ask for the Trust/Escrow department (being that it says ESCROW aim the check!!) and said she maintains that she can't verify the check. Even I called the Right department and they are happy to verify it for me! She even called the same number twice pretending that she cares and is doing the work to verify it, but when I called they said the manager NEVER CALLED THEM! My lawyer even gave her his BANKER's number! So instead of considering the phone number on the check, considering the phone number given by a LAWYER or considering that it is an ESCROW CHECK, she says "we can't call numbers that you give us" but as a banker She suggested I "just wait" in the middle of my financial crisis versus her having to get off of her behind and using common sense. Very very likely they are simply holding on to my trust money for their gainFirst Entertainment Credit Union
