    I purchased this manufacturer's product which retails for $*** that checks the status of your car using the electronic interface under the dash of the car. Following the instructions exactly, I plugged the device into my car and got 2 beeps. I turned on the ignition but did not start the car and waited until I heard 4 beeps and then removed the device. I plugged it into my computer after installing their app as directed. The app found the device, asked for the VIN and mileage of the car, which I input, and the app IMMEDIATAELY, without providing any other information, wanted another $30 before it would provide any information that it had just downloaded from my car. This is the most deceptively sold device I have EVER encountered in my 77 years of life and 67 years of working on cars. The device itself is well overpriced at its retail price but then to demand more money just to provide the information stated in the instructions that it would provide is outrageous. I would have returned the item but the seller sold it "as is" and will not refund my money, I now know why they sell these devices in this manner.

    My name is ****** ******, I was the person who first generated this complaint that you are addressing now 4 or 5 months after it was entered into your system.  The problem has been resolved to my satisfaction by the CarMD people quite some time back but I have never been contacted by the BBB regarding this issue, so I had not way to mark it as resolved
