We are a small neighborhood auto repair shop and have a contract with Prudential. Along with the contract, we also signed an addendum that stated we could cancel our contract if Prudential's service was "not up to industry standards". The addendum stated that we needed to write a letter to Prudential letting them know what issues we were having and if, after 60 days, our issues were not remedied, we could then be released from the contract. We sent multiple letters in which we mentioned to them that the tech's work shirts were wrinkled and often looked like they hadn't been cleaned at all and the fresh shop towels felt greasy to the touch. We also had been going back and forth for months about uniform sizing for 2 of our techs and we were told that in one case that they had no control over the consistency of the sizing of the shirts.Corporate reufused to speak with us and the local GM chose to deal with us defensively instead of trying to work with us on our issues. After we sent him the first letter, which was answered weeks after it was received, he responded with an empty email with contract buyout information attached. Then we were subsequently told that our issues had nothing to do with industry standards. What falls under the "industry standard" umbrella then? In the movie **************, *************************** character sells brake pads to one company by saying that there might be a guarantee on the competitor's box, but what they are selling you is a guaranteed piece of ****. Prudential's addendum is similar to this in that it is entirely meaningless. Prudential makes their customers feel like they have recourse if they have issues with Prudential's products or service, but when they can define "industry standards" any way they want and shut down any complaints from their customers, that recourse is negated. These contracts are for 7 years, which also seems unreasonable. All we want is to be free of our contract with Prudential. Thank you for your time.
