  A deeply painful experience disappointed in care and communication I brought my young cockatiel to Irvine Valley Veterinary Hospital Emergency on May 3 after she was injured in a dog attack the day before. I suspected a leg fracture and, after calling at 3:30 PM, was advised to walk in around 4:30 PM. Due to traffic, I arrived at 5:00 PM. The front desk accepted my bird and confirmed a doctor could evaluate her. I paid the $99 consultation fee.The doctor later told me she had about a 50% chance of recovery. There were no open wounds, and her condition appeared stable. Treatment included pain relief, anti-inflammatory shots, and a leg cast. She was discharged around 8:00 PM.However, just 15 minutes after leaving, she began showing signs of distress. I returned immediately. By 8:47 PM, the hospital informed me she had passed away.What upset me most was how the situation was handled afterward. I was told the bird was in critical condition all alongsomething that was never communicated to me during the visit. If I had known, I would have made a different choice for her comfort. The treatment process felt delayed, and the response from the hospital after her death was vague and dismissive.I am not posting this review to seek financial compensation, but to express my deep disappointment with the lack of transparency and care during such a critical moment. I hope sharing this helps others seeking emergency care for their beloved pets.

  If you have an emergency situation, please go somewhere else. I've had pets my entire life. Cats, dogs and birds. My cat jumped onto a roof from our balcony and broke his claw and his whole paw was ******. He was limping around so I took him here (first and last time). I checked in at around 7pm and was told that the wait was an hour long. No big deal... well... that was bs. It's past 11pm as I'm typing this and they are just now seeing Pucci and I'm going to be here for another hour or more. A open wound that gets left untreated for so long can increase risk of infection. Not to mention all the pain my poor cat was in. They literally took a parakeet before my cat. A parakeet that looked fine and was standing on his stick no problem. By the way no questions or expectations were set when I called. If they said "your cat will wait hours if he's not dying" I would have gone somewhere else without hesitation. If you care about your animals, please do not bring them here. They don't care. No sense of urgency or care whatsoever. To them, it's all about volume and making money. By the way, whose bright idea was it to have only 1 doctor for an entire facility? Unreal. Don't get me started with how astronomical the vet bill for clipping a cats toe nail is. Ripped off to top it all off.Edit: wow... the lady that came and grabbed him picked him up so roughly like a RAG DOLL without care and he cried out and screamed.

  This is my worst nightmare, DO NOT bring your family member to this pet hospital. Dont trust their yelp or ****** reviews. I waited 2 hours plus past the pick up time ( call ahead before I went in to the office) was told doctor still filling up the medicine. Doctor finally come out and talk to me with most annoying attitude, I just cant believe this business still running with this kind behavior. *** overpriced and rude attitude, no patience at all, I will never trust anyone there for leaving my pets there. Please reconsider this hospital !

  Do not bring your pets to these people. They took our 2k to put sutures on our parrot, but she didn't perform the surgery until 5 hours later. 7 from the time we got there. They neglected our pet and now it's gone.
