On 4-7-2025 I went to the business to complete the smog test on my vehicle. ****** *****, the mechanic, failed my car and stated that my air intake system was not CA compliant. I went home and called the manufacturer and they emailed me the executive order stating in fact my air intake is CA compliant. I went back within 2 hours with executive order printed in hand. ****** viewed the order and passed my car immediately. He charged me a retest fee for something he failed to do. He should have found that executive order on his own. He also gave me a receipt with a Lic# number that is not a valid business.

standard practice is. Customers will get charge  $80 whether the vehicle passes or fails the test.  If for some reason the vehicle fails i would let them know what to do and if they came back with in 10 days I would not charge for inspection but i do have to charge $12 dollars for the state certificate and to transmittted to the state so the customer can get his registration.  I normally will tell the customer before they sign my received and i have a big sign where customers sit so they can see it.   If a vehicle has after market parts installed and we cannot get the correct information to find out if it is state complaint  is up to the customer to get the information so we can verified it with the state.
In this case customer sign and agree, he got a $10 dollars discount I tested the vehicle and during the test I found out that the aftermarket intake installed on his vehicle did not come out on the system. I did search and were not able to find information on the intake. so the car failed and i explained to the customer I gave him a report for the reason why the vehicle was failing and I explained him what to do. and what will happend when he came back.  He agree. When he came back he had a report from the manufacturer of the intake with a serial number and the state exucutive number and with that information He was able to get a passed on the smog. He was charge a total of $82.00 and tested twice.

I am rejecting this response because:

The business did nothing to attempt to find the executive order on the initial check. I was able to find it online in a matter of seconds.  He failed my car after a visual check.  He also stated that my air intake was no longer compliant in CA.  This information is not accurate, once a system is given the executive order it is valid indefinitely.  If I followed his advice I would have spent hundreds unnecessarily. I feel his business practice is unjust and unfair to the public.  Also why is his business license # not accurate on his receipts?  He does not do business in good faith.  This is not the first time this scenario happens with him.  Read reviews.
    Sincerely,
